Chapter 5.

Sophie POV-

"Ow!" I heard someone scream as I stretched out my arms and opened my eyes.

"Oh! Zayn I'm so sorry!" I giggled, realizing I had punched him in the face. I looked at how close we were and nervously jumped out of his hold around my waist.

He let out a light laugh, "I guess we fell asleep here last night."

"Looks like it." I scratched my head, "shit, what time is it?" I leaped off the couch and sprinted towards my room.

"It's 4:34, Sophie." I heard Zayn call from inside. I've never slept this late before. While living with Jerry, I always made sure I was awake by 10 am or earlier so I was out of the apartment much before he awoke. Usually on school days, I'd wake up 2 hours before class and go for a run. I'd sprint the long distance to my school and take a shower there, finishing just in time to begin my studies.

"I'm going to be so late!" I mumbled as I scurried around the room and throwing clothes on. I didn't have to look nice, I'd have to change once I arrived at work anyways. "Bye!" I called to Zayn as I ran towards the door.

"I have to work today so I won't be back until late." Zayn informed me as he walked up behind me.

I gave him a small smile, "I will probably be later then you, don't wait up!" I told him and then sprinted down the hall. I decided I take the stairs considering the elevator takes forever to arrive. I hopped on a bus and got dropped off at the street corner right by the club. I hadn't slowed down my pace as I ran into the dressing room and began changing into the costume of the day.

"You're late." My boss appeared and began scolding me. "I've had various customers asking for you all day and they were not satisfied when I told them you weren't here."

"I'm sorry, Alan, I lost track of time."

He raised an eyebrow, "get your top on and get out there. Don't wear yourself out, you know we get busy around 9."

I nodded, clipping my top on and jumping into my stockings before releasing my hair from its ponytail and letting it fall against my back. I applied little makeup and took a deep breath before exiting the dressing room and towards the stage. I hate my job, I hate it so much, but it's all I can do right now. I don't have the money to finish school so I can't get my management degree and no well paid stores were willing to hire me.

This is all I could do. I guess Jerry was right, I am worthless.

I spun around and shook my body as more people cheered for me. In a way it kind of felt good, knowing people paid money to see me dance for them, to see my body. I am nothing to look at, I think I'm disgusting but the fact that people actually come to see me makes me feel somewhat better inside- it's sort of a confidence boost, I guess.

"Hey, slut!" Someone tugged at the hem of my miniskirt, "I always knew you'd end up in a strip club!"

I whipped my body around to see the source of the voice and I wish I hadn't because it was not a person I wanted to see. "Your father told me to find you, looks like I have. He won't be surprised when I tell him this." The man scoffed.

My breathing began to get heavy and the room started to spin. I jumped off the stage and sprinted to the dressing room, grabbing my belongings as fast as I could. I ran out of the club and started down the street, scared of him following me.

"Sorry!" A familiar voice apologized as we collided with each other. "Sophie?" He asked, "what are you doing?"

I blinked at him a few times before responding in barely a whisper, "leaving work.."
