Screams were carried through the wooden door to the hallway where Dís's family was waiting. Kili was five, hopping around while a ten year old Fili was sitting in Thorin's lap. Kili hadn't the slightest clue as to what was going on. Fili didn't fully understand what was happening, but he knew that he was going to have another sibling. He was frightened by his mother's screams. He'd jump a little in his Uncle's lap when there was an especially ear piercing scream. Meanwhile, Thorin was hoping all was going well. He wanted to know if he'd have a new niece or nephew. The anticipation was growing. Then, suddenly a high pitched cry rang throughout the house. He was thinking about springing up and bursting into the room to see the newborn, but thought better of it. His sister needed to be cleaned up a bit, and she needed to have at least a moments rest before taking care of the babe. He didn't calm down in the slightest though because the babe's cries rang on and on. They would not stop. He was watching the door intently, waiting for a nurse to open it and allow them into the room. His heart leaped as he heard the click of the door opening. He made sure Fili was on his feet and Kili was holding his hand before heading inside the room. Dís lay on her bed exhausted, trying to calm down her youngest child that she had just given birth to. It was a healthy baby girl and she would just not calm down. She looked up at her family as they entered the room and smiled warmly at them. She then looked back down at the wailing child in her arms. Thorin moved to the left side of her bed. Dís handed the small bundle to Thorin. He bounced up and down trying to calm the babe and she did for a second but started to cry again, though not as fierce as before. Thorin looked down at young Fili and held out the bundle. He cautiously took the babe into his arms and rocked her back and forth. Her wails slowed down and then they altogether stopped. Fili looked down in surprise at the baby girl in his arms. Their eyes met and they stared at each other for a while. There seemed to be a connection between her and Fili. Dís and Thorin were watching Fili with his little sister and smiled at the two. Fili poked the babe's little nose and laughed when the babe grabbed his finger and curled her own tiny ones around it. Then he turned to Kili who was sitting on the end of Dís's bed and held her out. Kili just looked at the bundle in his arms. He made a funny face, sticking his tongue out and the babe squealed and giggled. Kili's eyes also met with hers. Then the babe closed her eyes to take a nap. Thorin and Dís knew that three siblings were going to be very close to each other. The whole family was smiling in joy at the new addition to the family. Fili climbed onto the bed also and cuddled up next to his mother. "What did you name her, mama?" he asked. They all turned their heads to the sweet bundle waiting for the answer. "Her name is Lili." Dís answered.
