After what felt like hours of hanging around, I finally hear someone approaching. It was Weiss.
"A little help?" I asked her for assistance. She turns and walks back to Ruby who is standing just a few yards away.
"You came back!" Ruby excitedly exclaims as Weiss drags her away. I guess they're partners, just as destiny ordained. As I sigh, I hear someone else coming, it's Pyrrha this time.
"Hello again, this is yours, right?" I point up at the sword that holds my hoodie, and subsequently me, to the tree. "Thanks for the assist, I loaded the wrong Dust into my sword."
She chuckles "So you weren't trying to distract everyone with a fiery display?"
"No, I was going more for a propeller than a tornado. So... wanna help me down? Partner?" I subtly ask if she has a partner already. Is it too much to ask for the river of fate to flow my way when I'm trying to change it's course?
"Sure... partner." As she moves to help me down I feel relief wash over me. With Pyrrha as my partner my goal should be that much easier to achieve. The next step, become good friends. Or perhaps I should say the next step is not killing myself getting down. As Pyrrha removes her sword from the tree I start to fall to the ground.
"YAAAAAA!" As fast as I can I try to think of a way to save myself, but before I can I'm stopped by some other force.
"Sorry! I should have warned you before I pulled my sword out. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine but, how am I hovering like this?"
"I've used my semblance to catch you. My semblance is polarity. I figure I should tell you now since we'll be partners." As she explains she gently sets me on the ground. I had hoped to impress her with some quick moves but, this works too. "So, what's your semblance?" She looks at me inquisitively.
"I don't actually have one. I haven't been able to figure it out yet. I've barely got a hold on aura as it is." I can feel my face redden as I sheepishly explain to the prodigy that my own skills leave much to be desired.
"That's okay, we can work on that together. You understand what aura is though, yes?" It seems our lessons will start here.
"Yeah, isn't it like an energy we can use to protect ourselves?"
"More or less, here," she puts her hands on my face "close your eyes and I'll help you unlock your aura." I close my eyes. I can feel a warmth coming from Pyrrha's hands and suddenly I feel a warmth from inside myself, from my core, my soul. With a flash of light, I feel a rush of energy throughout my body.
"Woah, that was intense."
"Whew, there you go, now your aura is fully unlocked. You have a lot of it." Pyrrha looks a bit exhausted after that, it must be tough for the one doing the unlocking.
"You ok?" I ask, concerned I may have used up to much of my new partners aura. We only have so much we can use before we break or need to rest. Without our aura we're sitting ducks.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you. So, while you were up there did you happen to see which way the relics are?"
"I think they were that way." I point to the north, perhaps trying to convince myself that I actually know which way to go.
"Okay then. That way we'll go." She smiles and starts walking the way I pointed, though slightly to the right. She must have known more than she let on.
