The sun is still set, but I love looking at the stars from my bedroom window.

"It's okay, my love. I'll take Selah with me to the castle. I'm sure she won't disturb nobody." That is Valor's voice or my father, if you want. The door slowly opens, and my 'parents' enters the room.

"Oh, look! She wasn't sleeping! How are you, my beautiful angel?" Etta is always looking at the smallest thing I am doing if I walk, she comments on it; if I smile, she's in awe. I really do have her wrapped around my finger, and I am a single child, which means I don't have to 'take care' of other children.

"Good, thank you." Angel? Yes. Hers? No.

Four years have passed since I got into this world and I am still stuck in it. It's harder every day to remember where I am from and my past life, slowly I forget about who I was before. I still remember the great lines like I am from the Realm of Light and I had huge responsabilities.

Valor picks me up in his arms and gives me to my nanny. "Prepare her well. Today she is coming with me to the castle."

My nanny's name is Ollis, she's about 50 years old, and she has been taking care of me ever since I was born. "Come on, little miss. We have to get you ready for the castle."

After a bath and a brushing session, I am dressed in my prettiest dress, and my hair is similar to silk and styled in an effortless way, which I like. Etta gives Valor and me a kiss and finally let us go after warning for the hundredth time Valor. 'If you don't trust him that much, why do you let me go with him?' I wanna ask, but I keep my mouth shut and smile.

The carriage is simply beautiful, there isn't much detail or gold considering our family status, but it's still a pretty carriage. From what I observed, we are part of the less wealthy members of the high-class society, if that makes sense. My father got his small fortune because he is the king's scribe, bringing him from the middle to the wealthy class.

The sun is starting to rise, and the carriage was going at a slow pace allowing me to look at the sunrise. The sky gradually changes colour, and the birds' chirping looks like a melody welcoming the sun. I wish I will be able to look at something like that again with Ness. The ride finally ended after 30 minutes of travelling. A giant castle was in front of me, I had seen prettier constructions in my life, but it was still mesmerizing to look at.

The butler opens the carriage's door, and my father takes me in his arms, covers me with his cape and starts walking towards the castle, I suppose. After quite some time, the mantle is taken off my head, and I see a wooden decorated office. Valor sits me on a chair, and I start swinging my legs in the air.

"So listen, honey, children are indeed not allowed here. Father needs you to stay silent until he comes back. You can do that for me, Selah?" He looks a bit overstress. Let's not add some on top.

"Yes, father, Selah will stay quiet." Talking like a toddler is so bizarre, but hey! I'm learning a whole new language!

Three knocks on the door cut Valor when he was about to speak.

"Viscount Marchetti, the king is ready to receive you." The raspy voice's footsteps step away, and my father smiles at me before quickly leaving.

As soon as the door closes, I look in his desk drawers to find something to do. I grab the first book on top in the drawer to find unknown writing on it. I look through it to see many numbers written, enough, so I realize it's the kingdom's account.

Even though the feather was hard to hold with my tiny fingers, I still managed to resolve the problems. Numbers have no secrets for me. Doing mathematics is fun and all, but I start to get bored with the kingdom's economy. I climb on the desk and take the book on top of the pile. It's a map with many arrows going from Saffom to other Kingdoms such as Orie or Asdan.

I think it's an economy book describing the merchant relations we have with the other kingdoms. It's quite interesting; actually, it couldn't hurt to know more about the country's geopolitical situation if I end up stuck here.

It says in the book that Saffom's agriculture is not doing so great because the land keeps dying. The Mors territory is gaining power and space from Georgigus' land's death, which causes some royal assembly members to accuse the mors of the situation. From what I see in the book, I think Evernia is looking for the Mors' hide to stop them from attacking Georgicus. The thing is, their calculations are wrong; hence they send men to the place they call Portal ad mortem, where they would never come back. That's sad when we think about it.

Enough with the sad story! I place back the book where I found it and take back the economy register. Let's complete this! The more I get to know about the kingdom, the better I will be equipped to survive. The calculus is more problematic considering the topic we are at and the fact that I don't have all the information. Still, I manage for now by reviewing previous pages and collecting data from the diverse budget.

Finally, after a couple of pages, I reach the last budget of the year, attributing money. Valor won't know what happened, and that's the funny part. As I'm reading the previous account required, I see an inconsistency between the budget allowed to orphanages and the amount they effectively receive. As I'm going back to the last pages, the door opens, giving me a heart attack!

"What is this thing doing?"
