The bright sunlight shone through Danica Lestrange's window in her bedroom on the second floor of Malfoy Manor. She jumped out of bed, excited with what this day would bring. Her Aunt and Uncle, Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, would be taking her and her cousin Draco to Diagon Alley to purchase their supplies for Hogwarts.

Danica changed out of her pajamas into a dark green sweater with a jean skirt. She looked into her mirror and saw that her dark curls were a mess this morning. Danica smoothed out her hair and brushed out the frizzy parts. She would have chosen a looser, more comfortable outfit for the day, but according to her Uncle Lucius, Danica had to represent the Malfoys as if she was one. And to do that, she had to dress in the finest clothes that Galleons could buy and act very prim and proper. But of course, she was a Lestrange and a bit of rebellion never hurt anybody.

As Danica walked down the grand staircase of the Manor, she saw that Draco and Narcissa were already seated at the dining room table for breakfast. She quickened her pace to be seated right as Lucius walked in.

"Father, where are the servants with my breakfast," demanded Draco, "it's far too late and we need to get to Diagon Alley on time."

As if on cue, their head house elf, Dobby, walked in leading a cluster of other house elves that were carrying different breakfast items. There were fried eggs, two types of sausages, bacon, toast, and a mushroom and bean medley.

"You're late,"Lucius said very sternly.

"Dobby has disappointed his Master, Dobby is very sorry, Dobby will punish himself," Dobby the elf squeaked out his last words before sluggishly walking back into the kitchen where the clanking of pots and pans were heard shortly after.

After eating in silence, Danica looked up from her plate and asked, "Are we going to the Vault today?"

"I suppose so, you need to get more Galleons to purchase your school robes and books," replied Narcissa, "We might as well go to our vault to get Draco his own money."

Danica did a slight smile. Her vault, the Lestrange family vault, was the only thing that her parents had left her. There were Galleons upon Galleons and various treasures that were stored in her vault. Going to the Vault gave Danica the feeling of family, the family that she didn't have. Of course, the Malfoys were her only family left, but sometimes she just felt out of place. Whenever they were out in public, Danica stood out among the blondes with her dark curls and deep brown eyes. The only thing that she shared with them was her slight pale complexion, but definitely not as pale as Draco.

Following the completion of breakfast, Danica and the Malfoys prepared to apparate to Diagon Alley. Since they were too young to apparate, Draco would hold onto Lucius and Danica would hold onto Narcissa when they all apparated. There was a small crack and then Danica felt the nauseating twisting and turning of apparation that was all too familiar to her.
