My black thread was tied to her?
It took me about five minutes to register everything that was going on. I rushed to Kavya, the receptionist, as soon as possible.
"Hey Kavya, where did the couple go that just came out from my office?"
"They just left in their car. Any problem?" She asked me.
"No no, it's nothing." I nodded
"They sure were a weird one."
"What do you mean by that exactly?"
"I don't know but I think the man seemed pretty pissed off, it seemed normal but his grip on her arm was pretty strong"
"Weird, he was in a happy mood inside. Anyways, can you give me their address? I think I have something to ask them."
Kavya picked up a piece of paper and wrote down the address for me. After finishing some paperwork I left my office around 7:30 and I reached their address by 8 o'clock. I got out of my car and saw that all the lights in their house were off. Were they still out? But the car was parked there.
I rang the doorbell. No one came. I rang the doorbell once again, still no answer. Just as I was about to leave the door opened. Kanav opened the door. He stood still after seeing me. I think he was a bit shook to see me, anyway I greeted him. "Good evening Mr Kanav." I walked forward for a handshake. He also brought his hand forward but stopped mid-air. I caught a glimpse of his arm. He was bleeding. I think I saw some scratch marks. He hurriedly pushed his hand back.
"Hello, Mr Hemang, so sorry I opened the door so late. I was working in the kitchen. My hands are all dirty so, sorry. Anyway, what brought you here?" He asked me while putting both his hands behind his back.
"It's nothing serious, I just wanted to check on you, your wife seemed troubled at the office so I came to make sure everything was all right"
"Yes yes, nothing to worry about, she was complaining about a headache while returning. Now she is resting in her bed and I am stuck in the kitchen. Speaking man to man, we only enter the kitchen when our wife is sick or she is angry at us." He said smilingly.
"Ohh, so she is sick, no worries then I will come tomorrow"
"To be honest, I think it wouldn't be a good idea for you to come here, she seemed pissed at you, and I don't want to make a scene in front of the neighbours." His smile vanished and had a cold look in his eyes.
"As you say, it was nice meeting you. Bless you, both." I turned back and started walking toward my car.
Something is wrong with this couple. I opened the door and took one last peek at the house. I saw Shivani, she was looking at me through the window with the same desperate eyes at the office. I sat and drove back the way which I came. I have never been wrong in my life. I take pride in that. I can easily read the situations. I fear for Shivani. I think her husband is abusing her. For the first time in my life, I wish to be wrong.
I couldn't sleep all night. The desperate look in Shivani's eyes was troubling me, I didn't care about the black thread, I was thinking about her husband, for how long has he been abusing her. In the morning, I called up Kavya and told her that I won't be coming to the office today.
I had a bath, are breakfast and left for Shivani's house around 11. I was hoping not to run into Kanav this time. I reached her house and rang the doorbell, no one opened the door. I rang it 4-5 times but got no response. I told myself she might be out to buy something. I came back around noon and rang the bell 4-5 times again and still got no response.
