Chishiya never liked to sleep.

Those nights haunt him, it seeped into his soul like the heavy darkness that weighed deep in his mind.

He never cared to die alone. He didn't want to love-didn't need love. He told himself that over and over again, ignoring the dull need of affection from someone.

He was strong and he could take care of himself. Smart and cunning, he could take down any obstacle that blocked his path. He was a well-sharpened knife that was strong enough to draw blood. Enough to cut to where it hurts.

People were just tools, they live, they die. The strong survive over the weak.

But then you came to his life.

A person with a personality that was as light as a feather, easily as lovable as you was easy on the eyes. You were beautiful, a timeless clock that would never stop ticking.

Chishiya didn't want to be close to someone that he knew he would lose. But as much as he tried to be apart from you, you drew him back.

And now, he had you.

And those nightmares grew worse.
It grew worse because now, he feared.
Feared that he would lose you.

Chishiya would sleep peacefully within the first few minutes, and you grew to love his vulnerability. His wispy white hair, and the way his sleeping figure looks so relaxed to be with you. It calmed you to see his chest moving up and down with ease.

You would sometimes tuck his hair behind his ear to see his features more clearly. His eyes were not the least condescending. When they were closed, he almost looked like a gentle man. You would smile at the thought, since Chishiya wasn't exactly gentle.

Really, it was what happened after that worried you.

In a few minutes, he would furrow his eyebrows, his closed eyes moving and darting to one side to the next. He would inhale sharp breaths of air, and claw at the bedsheets like an animal in pain.

In this moments, you soothed him. You would hold his hand and caress it with your thumb while silently whispering sweet words into his ear, in hopes that he could hear you subconsciously.

There were times where it got bad. Sometimes, Chishiya couldn't be calmed and would wake up abruptly, grabbing your arm with panic in his eyes.

He would dream of you dying, your dead body in his arms and it would suffocate him. Suffocate him and his heart. He would lose you and no matter how much he cried, or screamed for you, you wouldn't give him the happiness of being alive. To grow old with him and kiss him ever again.

You would tell him that you were alive, that you were strong enough to survive.

You'd tell him everything was alright, while caressing his cheek gently. You'd smile when he'd close his eyes to feel the warmth of your hand before smiling back at you in a state of calm.

You would hug him until he fell asleep again. Your warmth grew into his soul and into his heart, and Chishiya believes that he'd no longer want to live unless you'd be by his side in his every waking and sleeping moment.

The dull ache in his heart started to grow lighter with you around, the result of your consistent love and care to his entire being.

You loved him, and he loved you.
Nothing, not even nightmares will keep you from one another.
