Garage's and 10 second cars

(3rd Person POV)

Everyone was in the garage, Dom, Letty, Vince, Leon, and Jesse were fixing up a car, while Mia was working on paperwork next to them. Selena on the other hand, she was drawing a picture. "Ma, where are the colors?" Selena questions and Letty looks up from her car. "Over there mija." She says and Selena nods and walks over to the table and grabs the colored pencils and walks back to her place on the ground. "Dom, I don't know what to do with it." Mia says and there is a sudden screeching and car engine. "All right, what the hell is this? What do you got there?" Dom questions. "This is your car." Brian says with a proud smile. "My car?" Dom questions and everyone crowds around the entrance of the garage. "I said a 10-second car, not a 10-minute car." Dom states. "You could push this across the finish line, or tow it." Jesse says. "You couldn't even tow that across the finish line." Letty says while looking at the rusted car. "Selena?" Dom questions and Selena looks up. "You think this could make it past the finish line?" Dom questions and Selena shakes her head. "Won't even make it past the starting point." Selena states and everyone laughs. 

"No faith." Brian says. "I have faith in you, but this isn't a junkyard. This is a garage." Dom says and Selena walks forward looking at the car. "Pop the hood." Brian says. "Pop the hood?" Dom questions. "Pop the hood." Brian confirms. They pop the hood and well it falls over. "2JZ engine. No shit." Jesse exclaims. "And what did I tell you?" Brian questions with a smug look. "I retract my previous statement." Dom says. "You know what? This will decimate all after you put $15,000 in it. Or more, if we have to overnight parts from Japan." Jesse says still under the hood. "We'll put it on my tab at Harry's." Dom says. "Yes!" Jesse cheers. "I gotta get you racing again so I can make some money off your ass. There's a show down in the desert called Race Wars. That's where you'll do it. When you're not working at Harry's, you're working here. If you can't find the right tool in this garage, Mr. Arizona...you don't belong near a car." Dom says and he goes over and picks Selena up who laughs. "Now I have to get my daughter some slushies." Dom says Selena still over his shoulder. "Dom- What about the work!" Mia exclaims but Dom just chuckles and leaves the garage with Selena still over his shoulder. Brian couldn't help but think...He can't be the reason this family splits up again.

(Time Skip)

It was a cookout, a big one at that. Selena was playing in the grass as Dom, and Brian were cooking, and everyone else was getting groceries. "Flor come help us." Dom exclaimed and Selena stood from the grass and ran over. "Yeah Dad?" She questions and Dom hands her a dish. "Put that. There." Dom says and he points at a section on the table. Selena nods and walks over carefully and places the dish on the spot. Selena nods proud of her accomplishment. Eventually Selena hear car engines. "I'm out of here." Vince says. "Come on, dog. Yo, Dom." Leon exclaims. "Vince, get over here and give us a hand." Dom says as Vince walks away. "Looks like you got all the help you need, brother." Vince says getting in his car and walking away. Selena then went back in the grass and Brian walked over. "Hey Selena." He says and Selena smiles up at him. "Hi." She says and Brian looks at what she has in her hand. "What's that?" He questions and she brings it close. "My Abuelo's racing journal, he died before I was born. Reading this makes me feel closer to him. Sometimes Dad feels like he isn't a great father since he didn't have anyone to teach him how to be one, but he's awesome!" Selena exclaims and Brian raises a brow not knowing how a seven year old can think that deeply. Brian nods then Jesse calls him over. "Brian, we need some help over here." Jesse exclaims and Brian nods. After a few moments Dom shouts. "Mia! The chicken's dry." Mia then walks out of the house followed by Jesse and Brian. "All right. I'm out already." Mia says and they place the platters on the table and everyone sits down, Selena next to Letty. Jesse reaches to grab the chicken and places it on his place. "Hey, hold up. Because you were the first to reach in to get the chicken, you say grace." Dom says and Jesse goes to protest but Dom gives him a look that makes him sigh.

"Dear heavenly..." Jesse starts but stops not knowing what to say. "Spirit." Leon says and Jesse nods. "Spirit. Thank you. Thank you for providing us with a direct port nitrous injection... four core intercoolers and ball-bearing turbos... and titanium valve springs springs. Thank you." Jesse says and everyone smiles. "Amen." Everyone says. "Not bad." Dom says. "Amen." Selena says and she goes to start eating. "He was praying to the car gods, man." Letty says. "He's not the best." Selena says and Jesse gives a small glare to her. "Bite me." She says and everyone laughs, even Jesse. "Look who it is. "Old Coyotes 'R' Us." I thought you weren't hungry, pumpkin." Leon says. "You know, I gotta eat." Vince says. "He's always hungry." Letty says. "All right, sit down." Dom says and Vice kisses the top of Dom's head which Selena giggles at.

"How you doing, Mia?" Vince questions as he sits down, he then grabs Brian's beer and takes a swig of it. "Jesse, hand me that chicken." Selena says and she holds out her plate and Jesse puts the chicken on her plate. "Let's eat some grub, man." Letty says and they all start eating. 

(Time Skip)

Letty was leaned against Dom's chest with Selena in her lap as they watched the movie. Thankfully it was the weekend so she could stay up late. "Vince can you get some more popcorn please?" Selena questions and Vine stands, grabs the bowl and goes to the kitchen. Selena curls up in her Mom's lap, a smile on her face. 

"Hey where's the popcorn?" Jesse questions as Vince storms out of the kitchen. "Make your own god damn popcorn!" Vince roars. Selena looks up and shrugs. "Alright heathen, time for bed." Letty says picking her daughter up. Selena groans, but it soon turns into small fits of laughter as her mother brings her over her shoulder. "Say goodnight to your uncles." Letty says. "Night!" Selena says in between giggles. 

"Night Sels." Jesse says. "Night Selena." Leon says, both him and Jesse wearing smiles on their faces. Letty brings Selena on the bed, a smile on her face. "Mami." Selena says causing Letty to sit on her daughter's bed. "What's up?" Letty questions. "Do you trust Brian?" Selena questions. "Maybe, now you need some sleep." Letty says causing Selena to turn on her side. "Love you Mami." Selena says. "Love you too mija." Letty says, a smile on her face.
