I knew why I got taken to the Alaskan base. It was simple; I talked back to everyone. Why? Cause it's hilarious. I love seeing the look on their faces when I call them out or make a bad joke. They never see it coming.
But I did this to guards too. And the teachers. And all the people with more authority than me, everyone who had any power at all over me.
It was worth it though. Every one of the students at that school thought I was the coolest person ever. No one else could stand up to the guards like I could. No one else called out the teachers like I did. I spoke for everyone. And everyone adored me. It gave me some power over the students, to make up for the power that the guards and teachers had over me.
Then, all of a sudden, no one adored me any more, because I got taken. After class I was walking back to my dorm to get ready to meet some friends. Next thing I knew, a rag was around my face and my vision went dark. Just like that, my power was taken away once again. I was back to being the little boy in the orphanage who no one talked to because I never stopped crying. I guess they didn't care my parents had died in a car crash, while I was in the car with them.     They just wanted me to shut up.
I never shut up again in my life.

I woke up in the dark. I didn't even have one second to adjust before a light came on and a hand grabbed each arm. I was blinded and being dragged along by the two figures on either side of me.
"What's with the hurry?" I said with a smirk, though it was too dark for them to see my face.
No answer. Man, these guys were trained well.
"Huh, nothing. They taught you how notorious I am. 'Don't speak to the guy with the black hair, he'll mess with your brain.' Am I some character from a horror movie now? I hope I'm the hot villain."
Silence. These guys were good. It made me frustrated to get nothing from them. This had never happened before. What good was teasing them if I got no reaction?
I gave up and just sulked, making sure to go limp so that the guards would have to use more effort to pull me down the boring hall. It was all white with hallways that split off from the main one.
Suddenly, a man came out of one of the hallways to join us. Andrew. We saw his face everywhere next to Emery's.
"Goodie! The big boy's here," I said, making sure to get the first word in.
    "Connor," he nodded, greeting me.
How was I supposed to have any fun here? My life was going to be miserable!
"Welcome to the Alaskan base..." Andrew started.
"Oh, it is such a pleasure. What a nice place you have here. But isn't it a little... um... plain?"
"You will continue life here as you always have back at the school."
"The life I have always had? You mean the life you stole from me? Or the life that you forced me into? I would prefer the first one, if you please. I would rather not console with burglars."
"Connor, this is precisely the reason you are here right now."
"Oh no, I think the reason I'm here right now is because you guys can't take a joke. Come on, get a life. You need people like me to brighten up that old school. Aren't you guys so bored?"
The guards gave me an extra push forward and I leaned back, adding extra weight to their arms. They were practically dragging me across the cold ground now.
We finally made it to the end of the hallway. Andrew pulled a key card out of his pocket and swiped it to open a door.
"Fancy," I said, not expecting an answer. I got what I expected.
When the guards pulled me through the door, it closed immediately behind us. A couple boys walked by with books in their hands, starting down at me.
"How's it going, boys?" I said with a smile.
They laughed and walked off. At least somebody appreciated me around here.
"This is the area where you will be living." We made it to a door and Andrew opened it. "And this is your room."
"Blah blah blah," I rolled my eyes.
"Your schedule, map, and key are on the desk."
He didn't bother to say another word before the guards shoved me through the doorway and shut the door behind me.
    I grinned.
    They hated me.
