It was 3 in the morning when Amanda had finished her patrols. She leaned back in her seat and yawned. She just wanted to go home to Ginny and sleep. An owl came to her, and she smiled when it was Pigwidgeon.
"Hello, Pig," said Amanda softly. The owl nipped her fingers affectionately before holding out his leg. Amanda took the paper from it and saw that it was a letter from Eliza and Hermione.
AMANDA LEWIS!
What on bloody hell were you thinking, making a deal like that? There's so much more I want to say, but I'm afraid we ran out of Howlers. You better come to chess and lunch on Friday or I swear, I'm going to kill you. Congratulations on your case by the way! We're proud of you. Don't forget lunch on Friday. Goodbye.
Hermione Jean Granger
P.S. Good luck, Ada, she's really mad – Eliza
Amanda just rolled her eyes and pocketed the letter. As if Hermione's anger would change her mind. She was already set on her decision, and if Eliza, who Amanda usually listened to, couldn't say anything to dissuade Amanda then Hermione most certainly couldn't. She was broken out of her thoughts when a cup of coffee was set down in front of her.
"Thank you, Harry." Amanda smiled gratefully and sipped it.
"You had a rough night today, Ada," said Harry, sipping his own coffee. "It's the least I could do."
"How are you and Jason?" asked Amanda. "Are you treating my best friend well?"
"Of course I am," said Harry in mock indignation. "Who do you think I am?"
"The Boy Who Lived But Can't Cook For His Life?" The two of them laughed loudly at that, which caused some of the remaining Aurors in the office to glare at them. They shut up immediately, but they still snorted from time to time.
"But, in all honesty, how are you two doing?" said Amanda with a smile.
"Well, he's a great roommate and a great friend," said Harry cheerfully. "I couldn't thank you enough for introducing us to each other."
"You don't have to thank me, Harry." Amanda patted him on the shoulder. "You needed someone to talk to and he need someone to lean on. We've all been through a lot in these past few years." The two of them went silent after that, remembering all the losses and pain they have been through because of Voldemort. Amanda and Harry were very similar. They lost their parents, Sirius and friends to Voldemort. Maybe, that was one of the reasons why they got along so well.
