solana:

15 minutes had passed since me, megan, tahliah and isaiah had gotten to the party.

bashar and rakim had found us, and we had all congregated at a table in the back and sparked a blunt to pass around.

and as you may have guessed, jacques was not here yet, nor had he even sent a text asking if i was there. i'd refused to text him and i kept telling megan that he wasn't responding.

"so i told her, nah... you good, and she just like, got up ON ME, and i'm like, hol', back up this is a lot," bashar was telling the story about a girl that had came on to him the last party he'd went to.

we all laughed at bashar. "so at this point, she tryna grab my nuts and im tryna tell her to relax, and..." bashar was still talking as my mind drifted. i debated on whether i should text jacques, or pretend like i didn't care.

i guess megan noticed that i was out of it, because she called my name and i immediately snapped to attention. "hm?" i said, looking around.

"let me talk to you for a sec," she said.

i got up from the table and followed megan to the corner opposite from where the table was. we slid through groups of people, exchanging five hundred "excuse me's" and "my bad's" in the process. "what's going on, sol? you've been outta there since you got to my house." she said.

"i'm fine, i told you." i lied.

"how fine is fine? i know you, and fine means a lot as far as you go," meg said.

"megan, i'm fine, i'm okay, i'm doing well," i said.

megan studied my face for a few seconds. "do you really know if he's coming, sol? be honest," she asked.

i sighed. "no. i haven't texted him since he left my house," i admitted.

"i thought you said you talked to him," megan said, face palming herself.

"i didn't want to tell you that i didn't," i said.

"sol, i would've been fine if you didn't. that's fine, you didn't have to lie to me," megan said, putting a hand on my shoulder.

"i'm sorry," i said.

"does he even know that you're here?" megan asked.

"i have no idea, i didn't tell him what time i was getting here," i said.

"so he doesn't- oh my fucking god," megan said, looking up behind me.

"wha-" i was about to turn around and see what she was looking at but she grabbed me before i could.

"don't... turn around just... follow me back to the table," megan said.

"huh?" i said.

"just follow me," she said pushing me in front of her.

"megan, what is going on?" i asked.

"sol, i am begging you not to look in that direction, this is literally for your own good," megan said.

i sighed as we got back to the table and sat down. "sol..." rakim started but megan shot him a look.

"shut the fuck up," she whisper shouted.

"megan can you just tell me what's happening? this is confusing." i said.

"solana, if i tell you this, you have to promise to keep your cool and stay in your seat," megan said.

"i will," i said.

"solana, keep your cool and stay in your seat," megan said.

"okay, okay," i said, putting my hands up. everybody at the table looked like they all knew what was going on too and it was starting to irritate me.

megan looked at everyone in the table and sighed heavily. "alright, stand up, turn around, and look by the door," she said, stepping in front of me.

i turned around and looked by the door and froze dead in my tracks. jacques was in fact here. standing on a wall. with ivy. and his arms around her. laughing. my heart dropped into what felt like the pits of my ass.

i turned back around to look at megan. "he lied," i said.

"he lied?" megan said.

"he-he said he would... show up for me. he said tonight was 'all about his sunny' and that nobody else mattered and..." i was getting worked up, stumbling over my words.

"come on, sit back down." megan said, but i didn't move.

"i only came for him, he asked if i was going and i wasn't planning on it... until he asked..." i continued.

"sol, come on, i need you to at least keep your composure until we get back to the table." megan said.

i inhaled and exhaled, trying to calm myself down. "okay," i said, inaudibly. my stomach felt twisted and my chest felt like it'd gotten the air snatched out of it.

we turned around and walked back to the table.

"she saw?" tahliah asked.

"yes," megan said, as i sat down heavily.

"i don't want to think about this," i began. "all i want, is to get fucked up out of my mind and not think about this shit until tomorrow morning,"

"bet," bashar said, while the rest of the table said okay.

rakim handed the blunt to me. "i'm fucking up the rotation, but i'm doing it for you," rakim said.

i took the blunt (which was fat as shit now that i was actually looking at it) and relit it.
