READ ME
(A/N): Hey, just a little heads up. I'm gonna try first person out. This is my first time writing First person out in a while, but I'll do my best. For a reference anything that is just in italics is a thought, I won't put a quotation mark or a he said/ she said sentence at the end of the thought since it that person's point of view. Enjoy.
Hina's POV
Everyone was studying the report on Obi's desk. "This is the incident report that seems most likely to be connected to these White-Clad attacks." Obi said. I quickly read over the report and got why someone would think it was linked to the Evangelist. "That's right. It's from our first job. Sister Iris and Maki had only just joined up with the Eighth. We were all new." Hinawa said making me arch a brow. What a coincidence. Why do I feel like a story is coming up? For some reason everyone looked at the report in awe. "That kinda makes me curious. How'd the Eighth start in the first place?" Kusakabe asked as he read over the report. "Good question, I never got around to asking about what things were like before I joined." Sister Iris said as she put a hand on her cheek. Obi hummed. "It's a long story. But it relates to the heart of Company Eight so it's worth telling." Obi said before facing Hinawa. I suppose I should listen to my company's story. "Lieutenant, tell 'em how we got started." Akitaru said. Hinawa looked at all of us and took in a breath.
Hinawa told everyone exactly how Company Eight was established, every detail. From Hinawa's perspective of course. I hate to admit it but that made the story even better. "Wow." Arthur said, with fake amazement. "Way to go Maki." Shinra chuckled. They were talking about how Maki got a recommendation to join the Eighth from Hinawa Takehisa himself. "Golly, I just thought I was recruited because I had basic pyrokinetic powers and I'm strong enough to be a meat shield." Maki said in awe. "A what?" I asked as I looked at her with the expression of confusion. "Did you really say those nice things Lieutenant?" Maki asked with a small giggle. "Oh, you're so sweet." Maki gushed. "That was well told. Good job." Obi praised Hinawa. "The heart of the Eighth hasn't changed since the day it was established. For the dying Infernals, we offer our prayers and a dignified end. For the living, we seek deliverance from the flames. There's one thing we value above all else: Life." Obi explained. I slightly smiled. "Give the speech a ten out of ten. The story was a nine in a half, only because Hinawa was telling it." I said jokingly before having Mizuki elbow me in the side. I winced in pain as I held my side. "If we still have time for the tale sir, I would like to hear the story of how the Ninth was established." Kazan said proudly. I looked at him and sighed. "Only if Captain Obi says so." I said. "Go ahead. Make it quick though." Obi says. I scratched the back of my head. "Well you see... before I established company 9, I was with the Forth." I started.
Three Years Ago
One day I was minding my business until one time on the news I saw how bad everything was getting in 'no mans land.' By no mans land I mean there was no Special Fire Force in the jurisdiction. The Infernals would be put to rest late and it bothered me more than anything. So I took the discussion up with Captain Hague. As a lieutenant it wasn't an unfamiliar topic. Since I was the second lieutenant after Pan Ko Paat, Hague gave me the okay to leave Company Four to start a new company. It wasn't just the fact that I was a lieutenant, I was a very capable leader and he trusted me. He said that I'm quick witted and a powerhouse. So I took that as a compliment. It wasn't that long before everyone in the company found out that I was leaving and decided to throw me a party. I sat there watching everyone enjoy themselves. I was leaving in a week. "Are you pleased with leaving the Forth?" Captain Hauge asked me as he watched over everyone. "No and yes. Don't get me wrong I'm gonna miss this place. But someone has to do the work in that area." I chuckled before taking a sip of the fruit punch. "I believe Company Eight just started a month ago. They're making their way up." Hauge said. "Really? I didn't know, thanks for telling me sir." I said. "While we're talking I just have to ask. Who have you chosen for the position of lieutenant?" I asked as I looked down at the table we were sitting at. "Actually, i've chosen, Tadashi Uzukakyū." Hauge replied as I arched a brow. "She does have great abilities, don't get me wrong. But she doesn't seem like she wants to stand out as a lieutenant." I said as I scratched the back of my head. Hauge slightly chuckled. "She's more concerned about finishing her reports so that she can go to sleep or be alone. But then again I don't know how she feels about the promotion." I sighed. "I'll see you later Shinmon." Hauge said before leaving the table, probably going to talk to Pan. I closed my eyes and leaned back in my chair. It's not like I won't see them ever again. I can always visit or see them in the line of work.
