Third-person POV

As principal Lewis guided the local police into the school establishment, the students all seemed fearful and perplexed. After all, what was the police doing in the most renowned school in the whole state? That answer was rather simple. They came in search of no one other than Dixie Jane D'Amelio.

All eyes were now centered on Dixie, walking down the hallway, as two police officers, handcuffed, and directed her to the police vehicle. But something aroused those who gazed at her, she had a subtle grin on her face. That should be, rightfully, the most frightening moment of her life, but for some reason, she seemed more at ease than ever.

The killer had been caught, she was being arrested at this exact moment! So they thought. In their eyes, she was the only possible convict. Their other viable suspicion was the younger D'Amelio, but for her luck, she had an alibi, she was still at the hospital, under observation.

Dixie held all possible motives. The first, Piper had severally hurt her sister, the only family she truly had. And those types of events cannot be forgotten so easily. The other, she was seen, leaving school grounds with an unidentified student, the night before Piper was declared missing, and she refuses to give their name.

But more important than reason, was reputation. Plus, it was much more effortless to mistrust someone with her history and past.

- Miss D'Amelio, you will now be interrogated. Could you please state your name for the record? - the tall, pale man was standing across the metal table, and in his hands he held a small notepad.

- My name is Dixie Jane D'Amelio.

- And you agree to be speaking to me voluntarily? - his eyes were incredibly concentrated on the unknown words he was writing down, and Dixie shall never know what was keeping his attention like that.

- Yes, I do.

- All right, thank you - he left his notes aside and sat down on the opaque table - As I'm sure you're aware, a murder was committed to a student at your school.

- I am.

- The body was found September 4th, at a forest near the school property, and according to the autopsy, the murder happened the day before, September 3rd. Correct me if I'm wrong but, that was when your sister was sent to the hospital, right?

- Yes - all the girl's answers were short and brief, which was leaving the men quite uneasy, after each one of them.

- Ok, what were you doing that day?

- Well, after school was over I left.

- And where did you go?

- To the forest, that same one next to the school.

- Were you with someone, or did you go by yourself?

- I was with someone.

- Can you tell me what you were doing there and who you were with?

She leaned forward, placing her handcuffed hands on the table, taking a deep breath and letting a little chuckle out before answering. Her complexion was at peace, like she was just having a regular conversation with a friend.

- I can't tell you that - She whispered, smiling at the man who was questioning her.

The officer looked at her, confused.

- And...why not?

- Because I can't - short answers. That was what the man dreaded the most at that moment, but the girl, she seemed to be having the time of her life, watching the man twist under her words.
