The Year Before Hogwarts: reunited

 A long low howl rattled the shutters of the small room. Four year old Nova sat up straight in her bed tugging the covers straight over her head. A werewolf she thought frightened. If she's absolutly still maybe it'll think she's  already dead. Fast paced foot steps approched her room. She gasped and clapped a hand over her mouth to quiet herself. The door creaked open fast and then it was shut again. The footsteps approached her bed and she started to cry. The blanket was tugged from her head and she started to scream but a hand clamped over her mouth. Nova opened her eyes in fright to see Remus, her brother, standing over her. She let out a shakey sigh and looked at her brother her put a finger to his mouth as if to say shhh and she nodded her head. Suddenly another howl rang out so close this time and the sound of glass shattered in the room nest to hers. She started crying again and drug Remus under her blanket to protect him. The sound of claws against the walls ripped throught the tense air. Nova looked at Remus to see he was crying too. They held onto each other tight until claws ripped at the blanket shredding it to pieces they screamed a loud long and heartbreaking scream. Remus tried to push her behind him but a claw reached out and knocked her across the face. A hot angry liquid ran over her face as she was flung to the side and hit her head on something below her and the last thing she heard was her brothers heartwrenching screams of pain as she fell unconcious.

Ten year old Nova jerked up she was covered and sweat and shaking, she looked around at the large room filled with so many beds and all the sleeping forms around her. Most had their pillows covering their heads probably trying to drown out the sound of me screaming though after six years the must be used to it. 

"Nightmare again?" Nova looked over at the bed to her left to see Silvia. 

"what?" Nova's voice croaked as she looked over at the older girl. Taking in her her long black hair pulled back in tight neat rows of braids. Silvia was sixteen, one of the oldest girls at Saint Cathrines Home for Girls. She's been here for longer than Nova could remember. "um uh yeah another nightmare.." Nova avoided her eyes and mumbled out the words, uncomfortable with how some of the other girls were starting to wake and pay attention. Silvia ignored them and continued to question her.

"Was it about your brother?"  Nova glared at Silvia. Silvia was normal. She wouldn't believe Nova even if..even if she told her was had happened that night. Nova turned on her side away from Silvia now annoyed that she had brought up the subject of her brother. But she wouldn't go back to sleep that night no the nightmares would make sure of that. "Listen I'm sorry Nova," Nova turned to her and glared again. "alright no I'm not....but a looky here what I got you." Silvia pulled out a file from behind her back. Nova sat up and looked closer bringing it to her face.

"Silvia, where did you get this.." It was her file to be specific. Nova looked it over flipping the pages.

"Well you see I snuck in earlier and thought if I got you this you'd shut up about finding your stupid brother.." Nova was barely listening to Silvia's retelling of how she obtained the file she was too busy reading it over. She skipped through her name and birthday and such and looked throught to where it said relatives.

Mother: Hope Lupin, address: unknown

Father: Lyall Lupin, Deseased

siblings: Remus Lupin, address: St. Edmunds home for boys.

Nova gasped there it was. She knew where her brother was. Jumping out of bed she flung her covers on the ground slipping on her skirt and pulling on her stalkings and shoes. Her sweatervest was loppsided but she didn't care. Silvia was already opening the window, slipping out and onto the fire escape jesturing for Nova to hurry. Grabbing the file off the bed she clampered out of the window nearly falling as she did. The metal clanked under her shoes and Silvia glared at the younger girl grabbbing her arm and dragging her along. Via kicked down the ladder and they started to decend. The ladder didn't quite reach the ground so they'd have to jump down. Luckily or not there was an open dumpster right below them. Nova looked up at Slivia with uncertainty. "You want to see your brother don't you?"
