The Year Before Hogwarts: Just like you.

"Its called hogwarts?"

"Yes"

"and its a school for magic?"

"yes."

"what are your friends names again? Jim, Sirus, and Peter?"

"Ugh. No. Its James, Sirius and Peter. You're what now? Ten. Can't you remember anything." 

"Well, Parden me Mr. Perfect, I guess I forgot that you never ever make a mistake." Nova rolled her eyes at Remus god she thought he would be nicer. " so does that mean you can show me magic show me show me show me." 

"No I can't we aren't allowed to do magic outside of school until we are of age." Remus saw the skeptism in his sisters eyes. "Its real. I'm telling the truth here look." Remus got up and opened a trunk that was under his bed. He shuffled around pulling out a stack of letters. He handed the stack to his sister. And she began to read.

Dear Remus,

Hope you're doing well. I tried to convince dumbledore to ask the Matron if you could come to mine for the summer but he said it wouldn't be safe whatever that means. But dumbledore knows best. Sirius is here sometimes, Peter is always and we are practising for quidditch. Obviously I'm doing great since I'm a natural but Sirius is pretty good too. Hopefully Pete can catch up don't tell him I told you but he's kinda bad. Miss you!

James Potter.

Nova laughed. "mother hen? what?" she laughed Remus blushed a tiny bit embaressed perhaps he shouldn't of gave her the letters after all. 

" Its just a joke between me and my friends." Nova rolled her eyes she wasn't trying to steal them she doesn't even know them yet. " Go on read the rest if you must."

Remmy boy,

Hopefully you get this letter and it isn't stolen by what the muggles call satan who is my mother. Anyway I was disapointed when I heard you wouldn't be coming to James'  at all during the summer which sucks because now I'm here getting drilled on quidditch stuff. Peter is always here and he follows James around like a little pup. Peter also sucks at everything. Please come save me next summer. I also got some new muggle records that i think you'll like, they are my favorites ever so far. Wish you were here.

Nova gasped and laughed again. " Is his mother truly that horrible?" Remus shugged he hadn't met Sirius' mother and hoped from what he heard he'd never have to. Nova set down the rest of the letters now filled with more questions. "Remus do you think I could be what you are a witch I mean. Do you think I could go to hogwarts?" Remus laughed. Nova frowned. "what?"

"You go to hogwarts? My baby sister a witch?" Remus thought it over in his head. She probably would go to hogwarts the same as he had but he wasn't gonna tell her that not yet at least for now because Hogwarts was his. " Nah I doubt a muggle like you would get in." Nova was mad. What was a muggle. Obviously it meant something bad. She would show him she would get in. And on that night she climbed out the window and made her way back to St. Catherines.  Remus called her name out telling her to come back but she just flipped him off and kept on going.

The following weeks leading up to her eleventh birthday she'd show up in Remus' room at 11:00 everynight even on full moons to make up for all the lost time over the years, slowly but surely they were falling swiftly into their sibling dynamic.  On full moons Nova would dit outside of the room he was locked in and talk to him all night so he knew he wasn't alone. They formed a bond over time Remus was the sassy annoying protective teasing older brother and she was his headstrong stubborn nagging baby sister. Finally the day came July 31th her eleventh birthday. Nova woke that morning  with a spring in her step the head Missus came and took her away as soon as she woke. Silvia looked at her questioningly but Nova just winked at her saying "its my birthday" before she disappeared with the Missus. 

Missus sat her down in the chair in front of the desk. Nova gave Missus a big smile. "Happy birthday Satans Spawn." Missus gave her a strained smile. Nova and Missus realtionship wasn't very complex. It wasn't that Missus was mean or that she hated children it was just that Nova was a Devil Child. She could never do as she was told and always found a way to make everyone mad. Its like she was born to cause problems sometimes it even happened on accident snd she truly didn't mean it. No matter though she was disaplined plain and simple. Nothing too extreme though just locked away for an indefinite amount of time in a small inclosed room without light. no biggie.

"Thank you Missus." Missus tried to sip her coffee only to find it frozen. She sighed tipping over her coffee a brown sludge slid out of her mug and hit the table with a plop. "You know how I hate coffee I hope you don't mind."

"Ahem" Nova spun around. There behind her where she hadn't noticed before stood an oddly dressed old man and a cat. Nova's heart leaped. This was it she is gonna be able to go to hogwarts. She could barely contain her excitement when she stretched out her hand.

"Heya gramps." Darn it why did she say that thats so weird ahh. She was so nervous. Missus raised an eyebrow at her and dumbledore looked confused. 

" I am not your grandfather Nova-"

"I know." She panicked and cut him off oh god where are her manners. "I'm sorry Dumbledore, I don't know why I keep saying these things." She heard snickering and saw Remus peaking out from the door way. She glared at him. "Remus what are you doing here!"  Remus shrugged and pointed at dumbledore. She looked to dumbldore waiting for an explaination.

"Well since tomarrow is already september 1st I thought it'd be easier for the both of you if you were together to get your stuff. I can't personally take you myself as I have other things on my agenda to get ready for tomarrow but Professor Mcgonagall would be delighted to take you both. Nova looked around confused but the other other thing in the room was a cat so who was Professor Mcgonagall-suddenly the cat transformed into a woman in a tall hat. Nova was so surprised her jaw dropped and her brother snickered at her forcing her to punch him to keep quiet. This was awkward here she was staringa at a cat lady who was supposed to take them shopping when Nova herself had no money to shop with.

" I'm sorry Mr-"

"its professor" Remus rolled his eyes as he corrected her.

"Sorry Professor  Dumbledore but if you haven't noticed I live in a girls home and am dirt poor." Dumbledore chuckled a low giggly laugh. Nova did not laugh what was so funny about being poor surely nothing. Dumbledore stopped doing his weird laugh thing.

" Well I have to go I'm sure minevra has everything here covered." The hell this man isn't too good at his job and he's weird. Dumbledore left with a little pop and Nova was left with her brother and weird Cat lady.

"Well children we have a lot to do today, after you." Mcgonagall pointed towards the door and Remus led the way out getting lost a few times on the way making Nova drag him by his arm to keep him from getting lost. Once they were out of the home they stood on the sidewalk and Remus grabbed hold of the womans arm. Nova glanced at him oddly. "Grab ahold Ms. Lupin this will be quick." Nova did as she was told for once in her life and in a second a wave of nausea washed over her and she popped up at a completely different location. Nova fell over. "Oops I appologize dear perhaps I should have warned you better."  Well yeah she definitly should of. Nova groaned as Remus laughed at her bent over his hands on his knees acting like this was the funniest thing in the world.

"You think?" Nova opened her eyes and glanced at the woman from the ground. The woman narrowed her eyes at the sass but made no comment. Taking a few steps forward while beckoning them with a 'come along now'. Nova unsteadily stood up brushing the dirt from her skirt and kicking Remus before following Mcgonagall. " Come along now." Nova mocked in a high pitch voice to Remus, before turing to find Mcgonagall glaring at her. Her eyes widened and Remus snickered.

"Its the cat like hearing." Remus whispered to her before catching up with Mcgonagall. " So Professor do you think we'll see any of my other halves today." Mcgonagall sighed. Nova drifted behind them ignoring their conversation and taking in the wonders around her. She surely stuck out like a sore thumb with her messy braids and glasses, her skirt dusty from falling over. Everyone around her was dressed in what looked like to her bathrobes and pointy hats. Strange people they were. They passed a pet shop and Nova looked inside longingly at all the animals inside. " Come on Nova lets go."
