"I'm Miguel by the way." He said.

"Y/n"

hey, thanks for standing up for me back there" I said.

"nah, it's fine. I'm sure you would have done the same thing." he said.

"you're gonna be our teacher?" Miguel said.

"No, I'm gonna be your Sensei" He said.

Miguel and I looked at each other and beamed.

We were standing side-by-side, Mr. Lawrence standing in front of us, in silence.

"Will we get the karate pajamas too or like-" Miguel said finally breaking the silence.

"QUIET" He yelled. " The student only speaks when spoken to? Understand?"

"Yes" we both said.

He looked at us, waiting.

"Yes, 'sir'?" Miguel asked.

"You will always address me as 'Sensei.' Is that understood?" Sensei Lawrence said.

"Yes Sensei Lawrence" I said.

"These aren't pajamas, it is a gi. You will get one when you earn it." Sensei said. "alright, you ready to being your training?"

"Yeah Sensei...." We both said.

He then flipped Miguel.

"Oh my-!" Miguel exclaim.

"Lesson one! Strike First, never wait for your enemy to attack." He said.

"YOU COULD HAVE TOLD HIM FIRST! OR GIVEN A WARNING!" I yelled.

"QUIET" Sensei yelled. "We do not train mercifully here. Mercy is for the weak." Miguel pulled out his inhaler and took two puffs from it. "Here on the streets, in competition, a man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy. Do we have a problem Mr. Diaz?"

'There is no problem Sensei," He wheezed. "You just punches me in the chest and I have asthma."

Sensei grabbed his inhaler and threw it against the wall. "Not anymore. Weakness does not exist in this dojo! so you can leave your asthma or peanut allergy" he looked at me "or any of that other bullsh*t outside you understand?"

"Yes, but like- those are real medical things- we can't just NOT be allergic- I mean-" I sighed realizing he doesn't care.

"Yes, Sensei" we both said.

"Cobra Kai isn't just about karate, it is a way of life. Take that first lesson. Striking first is the first step towards victory. Like when you are at a party and you see a hot babe- or guy" he said that last bit to me. Miguel stole a quick glance at me.

"No, babes are good too." I said.

"Well- when you are at a party and you see a hot babe do you wait for someone else to talk to her?" He continued.

"I mean I have never been to a party so..." Miguel said.

"Of course you haven't" I said with a slight giggle.
