Daniels POV

"Besides the obvious advantage you have at this challenge..... I think I'm going to win." I say playfully as I look over at Vanessa.

I invited her over to make a gingerbread house with me but with how competitive we both are we both decided we would both make one and see who's is better.

"If I don't win that's just embarrassing." Vanessa says playfully causing me to gasp.

"Are you saying that you don't think I have a chance at beating you?" I ask her playfully as I take a step closer to her.

I was now towering over her as she looked up at me and met my eyes.

"I saw how you frosted the cookies at the bakery.... I know I can win." She says playfully.

I shake my head as I place my hand on her shoulder.

"This is different.... this is a challenge and I never lose... plus I wanted to be an architect and this is basically like building a house so..." I reply proudly causing her to laugh.

"Start the timer Seavey so I can win already." She says proudly.

I widen my eyes at her as I start the clock for thirty minutes. I open the frosting with my teeth causing Vanessa to widen her eyes at me. I simply wink at her before I start putting frosting on all of the sides of the gingerbread pieces. I start gently placing the sides together. I glance over at Vanessa and I notice her taking her time on making the frosting look good. She try's to place the pieces together for the house but they fall over.

"You need help?" I ask her softly.

"It's a competition Seavey." She replies playfully.

I sigh as I put the roof on my house. I was done with the general structure but I needed to make it look nice. I added frosting to the roof and I started adding gumdrops around the door. I take one look over at Vanessa and I notice that she is very concentrated. She also had her house put together but she was decorating it with frosting and it looked insane. I glanced at my house and then hers and started laughing. Mine looked like a mess but hers looked amazing. It made sense though because she literally decorates cookies for a living. She looked so cute while she worked I found myself just staring at her.

"Dani boy.... are you just going to stare or actually going to try and beat me?" Vanessa asks me snapping me out of my daze.

I quickly avert my attention back to my house and start adding more detail to it. My gingerbread house was very sturdy and I noticed Vanessas was very wobbly. She looked over at my house and I quickly grabbed her frosting out of her hand and poured it into my mouth.

"Cheater." She says playfully as she reaches for the bag of frosting.

I hold it above her head causing her to laugh as she jumped to try and grab it. She grabbed my arm and put her entire weight on it and I pretended to yawn as I held her with one of my arms. The timer beeped scaring the crap out of the both of us.

"Alrighty! Christian come decide who's is better?" I yell as me and Vanessa walk around the table and look at our creations.

Vanessa had a whole pond and pathway leading to her house and the decorations on the house was insane. Mine wasn't bad but it was nothing compared to hers.

"That one obviously wins." Christian says as he laughs and points at Vanessas gingerbread house.

"Hahah you loose Dani boy!" She yells as she jumps up and down.

I sigh as I take off a piece of my gingerbread house and shove it in my mouth. I quickly spit it out because it tasted like actual garbage. Vanessa laughed as she watched me look at the gingerbread house in disgust.

"You probably shouldn't eat it." She says sarcastically as she walks closer to me.

"Woah really...." I reply sarcastically.

She playfully punches her gingerbread house causing it to fall. I quickly lean over her shoulder and place my finger in the frosting off her house and place it in my mouth.

"The frosting is so good." I mumble as I stuff it into my mouth.

"I guess I need to try some." She says playfully.

I use my other finger and stick in the frosting and then hold it up to her face. I smear it on her face causing her to squeal. She grabs my finger and licks the rest of the frosting off of it causing my eyes to widen.

"I've tasted better." She says in an unphased tone.

My mind was still replaying the previous events that had played out.

"Next time we should actually make a gingerbread house together.... I can do the designs and you can do the building." She says softly.

I wrap my arms around her as I pull her into my embrace.

"There will be a next time?" I ask her sarcastically causing her to playfully nudge my arm.

"I hope so.... I really like you." She mumbles into my chest.

"As a friend of course...." she stutters as I can tell she is very flustered.

"Yeah obviously." I reply softly.

"The whole thought of Christmas was ruined for me because of last year but you make it better." She says softly.

"It's funny because I was thinking the exact same thing. Christmas got back it's special kind of magic I use to feel as a kid because of you." I tell her.
