Everyone in the world gathers outside to see what the noise is. It's demonic laughter, of course, but where is the source? Where is it coming from? The whole world hears it and for once, it's united in its fear. Katie cries for the fifth time that morning, struggling to process the loud noise. No one fully understands it anyway. How would it ever be possible that on Earth there can be a noise as loud as this, spread amongst the whole planet?
It's almost supernatural. A gothic convention. My English teacher would love to see that I remembered that. Back to the story: Katie looks above. The sky is still grey and cloudy. As grey as it has ever been, as grey as it ever will be. The clouds, however, were moving at a faster pace than what was considered to be 'normal'.
Katie, still crying, starts thinking through her theories again - the thoughts to keep her sane and grounded. She screams, "Why laugh-"
The laugh from the sky gets louder, seemingly amused somehow.
"Since laugh is just-"
It sounds like as if it's a person that has to literally hold themselves upright to keep from collapsing in laughter.
"Vocal chords! Why that noise!"
The laughing continues. The nightmare continues.
