Personality: Aeryn, or "Ryn" for short is the definition of your stereotypical mad scientist. She is incredibly intelligent, extremely creative, and has a wicked and slightly disturbing imagination and a love for anything unnatural. Ryn isn't really "good" or "bad," as she will usually make choices based on impulsive tendencies or what just feels "right" in a moment. If this wasn't the medieval times, she would be a certified genius and probably has an IQ well over 150 (most likely close to 160 or higher tbh). She's a talented and quick thinker and can solve virtually any problem in a matter of seconds (especially when it comes to science or math). She's not afraid to speak her mind and quite honestly, doesn't shut up about what she may be thinking no matter what language it's in. Ryn has an appreciation for words and writing and can speak almost any language, including dead languages nobody cares about anymore. She thoroughly enjoys reading and will enthusiastically inform people about her latest hyperfixations. She likes to ramble on and talk to herself a lot when she's working because it helps her get her thoughts out regardless of who is or isn't listening. Some may describe Ryn as annoying, but others may describe her as interesting and excited. There is truly never a dull moment with Ryn and anyone who gets the chance to meet her will probably find themselves confused at least once. She's a fast talker and it can be hard to keep up with her at times (which is the primary reason she lives alone), but if you look past her intimidating home, slightly concerning thoughts, and severe hyperactivity, Ryn is a good friend to have around.

Backstory: Not much is known about Ryn's childhood other than the fact that she has always been creative and significantly hyperintelligent for her age. She hasn't suffered any trauma, but she does have a slightly concerning reputation when it comes to mental health (I don't like making mental illness or trauma a romanticized "character trait," but like since I have both of these and know enough about them to not misinterpret or disrespect their realities, I'm just going to say that my girl Ryn be out here with ADHD and bipolar disorder lmao). Although no one, including her, really knows what species she technically classifies as, she grew up with a group of Quil'khians and bases a lot of her everyday routines on their traditions and lifestyle. Ryn's mind and a lot of her physical appearance closely resemble a Quil'khian, but her attitude and personality are unique to her, so it's possible she could be a mix of different species, because she is far too "special" to be 100% human. (That's basically code for idk wtf she is and neither does anyone else.) Ryn never cared to know what her own genetic makeup was, but when it came to other creatures, she was absolutely fascinated by it. Ryn has always enjoyed biology, science, and inventing, and when given the chance to combine them all, she will try to create freaks of nature. Her favorite successful creation by far has been her pet batsnake, Tido (they/he). Tido was the combination of a bat, a bird, and a snake, and is basically a snake with cute little wings. Ryn and Tido do everything together, and they're pretty much her only real friend. Aside from that, Ryn's favorite hobby, and full-time job, is inventing. Whether it's a weapon, an automobile, or a steampunk-style dress with a full functioning coffee bar inside (that's literally what she wears everyday lmao, this bitch doesn't sleep at all and that's probably why), Ryn is always trying to discover and invent something new and improve on her latest technology. She's had her fair share of accidents, which can be seen by a quick glance at the large scar on her face, but this has never stopped her from continuing to pursue her dangerous passion. Ever since she moved to a 12 story lab-style house on a tiny, spooky island in the middle of nowhere when she was 19, Ryn has been inventing and experimenting day and night. She barely gets any sleep, but it doesn't seem to bother her, as she usually stays up being productive for a week at a time before being able to rest for a few hours. Her smarts and talent haven't gone unnoticed, as Ryn will often take requests for new gadgets and has built up quite the clientele. She doesn't care who it's for or what purpose they plan to use it, as long as she's paid well for it, Ryn will invent almost anything and is the go-to mad scientist for anyone's chaotic ideas.
