"I'm hearing voices and they're haunting my mind"
Black Out Days-Phantogram
3rd Person POV
A teenage girl approaches a dark alleyway. She's wearing a striped shirt, moon necklace, and a black hood. She looks at her surroundings as she starts walking down the path.
"Hello?" The girl calls out several times.
Suddenly she see's an adult woman with a kid enter the other end of the alleyway. They start kicking the shit out of a few people. She speeds up to see what's happening, but by the time she gets there the people who were being fought were unconscious and the woman grabs the kids hand hurrying off.
The hooded teen follows them. All she can hear is happy chatter between the two. She saw the admiration in, who she assumes is, the mother's eyes towards who she's assuming is the daughter. "I'm so proud of you Ali!" The woman praises earning a giggle and hug in return. The teen watching can't help but smile at the interaction, even after what she just witnessed them do.
When they make it to a parking garage, a smoke bomb is thrown in their direction. The younger girl gasps and the woman shushes her. As the smoke fades, several people in masks approach the duo. They start to fight, but the kid is quickly taken down, clearly they're out-numbered.
"Whatever you people want, I suggest you release my daughter," The mother warns the attackers. One of them puts their foot on the daughters head.
"Mom!!!" The daughter yells out, struggling to break away as the rest circle around the mother. Two more go over to stand on the daughters' legs to stop her from slipping free.
The teen girl watching tries to help the duo, but can't move. The daughter starts to slip free, but it's too late. Her mother is stabbed multiple times through the chest and back, ensuring her death, before all the masks slip away into the shadows. The daughter crawls over to her mother, pulling the body into her chest as she sobs.
The bystander screams as she watches in horror before quickly raising up in bed, still screaming.
A woman hurries into the bedroom, "Rachel!"
"It wasn't the circus boy this time. It was the parking garage again!" Rachel pants out, "The girl..."
"Take a breath, honey. Just calm down," Rachel's mother coaxes.
"She watched as her mother got stabbed. Oh, God. It was.... It was so scary, I felt it...." Rachel hyperventilates, causing her to be unable to finish saying how it felt so real to her.
"It was just a dream. Okay, just... Just breathe like we practiced, okay?" She tries to calm Rachel down. They take deep breaths together.
Alison's POV
I pull up in front of the Detroit police station. Ah, there it is, I can't believe I'm here. I keep reminding myself it's for intel and Bruce didn't kick me out. Ha, like he could ever do that. I am pissed though that I had to come on a day it's raining. I drive a motorcycle and get enough of these conditions back in Gotham.
I hurry in, shake the water-droplets off my black leather jacket, and tighten my high ponytail before flashing a fake detective badge to the receptionists so they'll let me through with no questions, which works of course.
As I get to the floor I need I'm greeted with voices and ringing phones.
"Gassed by the Joker, who knows?" I hear a male voice chuckle.
I freeze in my tracks. What the fuck did he just say? Why would there be talk about the Joker in Detroit? I step around the wall to see a man and woman sitting at their desk and a woman standing in front of them.
The one standing looks over her shoulder to a desk across the room. I follow her eyes and almost pass out at what I see.... No. Fucking. Way. It can't be him. My eyes are deceiving me!
"Hi, can I help you?" A blonde chick, the one who was standing, approaches me. I don't answer, I'm still staring in horror at the sight in front of me. I just hold up the badge and hand her a paper with the name I need. "Um alright. Detective huh? Well, I'm sorry to inform you since you came all this way, but the man you're looking for is no longer here. I'm his replacement actually, Amy Rohrbach." I ignore her hand that she sticks out. She awkwardly coughs and takes it back.
"You're kidding right?" She shakes her head no. "Great," I sigh, tearing my eyes away to finally look at her.
"I can try to help you out or you can talk to his partner. He's over there, his name is Dick Grayson. Word of advice though, I would rather deal with me," Amy jokes. I roll my eyes at the mention of his name and her bad joke.
"I'd rather not," I spit out and turn to leave quickly, kicking the wall on my out.
I dial Bruce's number when I reach the lobby.
Bruce answers after the first ring, "Hey, how's it going?"
"Oh, fucking fabulous Bruce!" I yell at him. "What the hell?"
"Woah, slow down, yelling already?" He's now confused.
"Did you know?" I swear if he sent me here because he's here, I'm gonna kick his bat-ass.
"I have no idea what you're talking about Alison. Take a breath and explain," Bruce attempts to calm me down.
I inhale angrily through my nose. "Did you know Grayson was in Detroit?"
There's a pause. "Last I knew he was located in upstate Michigan. Alison, you know I wouldn't have sent you there for him. Where is he?"
I let it all out, "He's the fucking partner of our contact. And now that guy is gone and I'm stuck here SEEING HIM!" I seethe.
"Damn it, the contact was a little old, but I had some digging to do before checking it out. Okay just-" I hang up the phone before he can finish.
I know Bruce didn't do it on purpose, but that doesn't make me any less mad! I squeeze the phone in my hand, but it doesn't help. I exit the building and throw it as hard as I can on the ground.
