Chapter 7

Azriel is not a stranger to looks of awe. She would often catch her Master's subordinates and colleagues gawking at her shamelessly, some are even so brazen as to out rightly ask her out. As if they were worth a speck of her time. She was not surprised when a little bird told her that several workers from different departments have disappeared.

These human children seem to have no malicious thoughts, nor do they have the strength or courage to act upon them if they had. She will let them be for now.

She was directed to her chair--which was on the third column near the window--and class began without any more interruptions...maybe except for occasional (distractions) adlibs from her classmate.

"Shinwoo?" she thinks as she recalled their teacher, Mr. Park, yell when he caught him sleeping in class and Shinwoo tried to cover it up by asking a question totally unrelated to their current subject, which was mathematics. His other companion, Ikhan, was no better as he was also caught by Mr. Park using his computer in class and both of them were forced to solve a particularly hard mathematical equation.

It was an interesting way to start the morning.

"Hey, are you going to the cafeteria? Do you want to join me and my friends?" She blinked away her surprise when Shinwoo approached her a few minutes after class. She does not really need to eat and was about to just find a place somewhere around the school to begin her preparations for her mission.

Having been asked like this, it would be unwise to reject his offer, especially since she is introduced to be someone who hasn't had the chance to be with people her 'age'. Normally "people like her" would immediately grab the opportunity to make connections and it would be weird if she refuses.

She plastered a soft smile on her face, "If you do not mind, I would love to join you" she replied.

Shinwoo's face brightened at the acceptance and beckoned her to stand up so they can go to the cafeteria together. Apparently his friends has already gone to the cafeteria and he forgot his wallet in his bag and is back here in the classroom to retrieve it.

On the way to the cafeteria Shinwoo attempts to make small talk, "Where did you come from, Azriel? If you don't mind me asking."

Azriel smiled, "I lived in America for quite some time with my father."

"Mr. Park said that you've been homeschooled. Is this your first time ever being in an actual school before?"

"Not really. I've been to schools my father does his charity work to, most of them are science-based schools." she replied, "But this is my first time studying in an actual school."

Shinwoo laughed nervously, reaching out to the back of his neck to release the nervousness. "You're right hahaha. That was stupid of me to ask. Of course you've been to actual schools."

Azriel chuckled, "I apologize if it caused you any distress. I was merely teasing."

"Oh. Right." Shinwoo blushed and internally wanted to kick himself in the face. So uncool!

They arrived at the school cafeteria and found his friends waiting. Shinwoo waved at his friends and wrestled with Ikhan when he was close enough.

"Oh yeah guys, Azriel is going to eat with us. Azriel, these are my friends."

Azriel tipped her head, "It is very nice to meet you. I hope you do not mind me sitting with you for lunch."

Ikhan replied immediately, almost yelling. "We don't mind at all! You can sit with us for as long as you want!" Azriel smiled, "Thank you. You're very kind, Ikhan."

The smaller male blushed at the fact that she knows his name (Oh my god she knows my name!) and stumbled over some words before ultimately deciding to sit down unless he does something to further embarrass himself in front of the prettiest girl he has ever met. Shinwoo laughed at his friend, who pouted with a beet red face. He can sympathize with Ikhan to an extent. After all, who can actually keep their cool in front of such a person?

Speaking of keeping their cool, "Rai! Why don't you introduce yourself to our new classmate?"

The black haired male didn't look up immediately. He was too absorbed with the notion that she is a familiar presence but for some reason he cannot recall exactly where and when he has met her, but he has a feeling that whoever she is, this person is someone that he needs to remember.

Frankenstein says her name is Athena. He knows her. I know her. But I can't remember her.

If the glimpses of memories (are they memories?) are any proof, then he would need to try harder. But if they were memories of importance (are they important?), how could he have forgotten them?

If she was someone important to him, then—

"Hello."

He blinked. He slowly turned his head towards the sound of the voice and found her standing across him, the lunch table their only barrier. She was smiling, as if unbothered by his lack of response to his friend's earlier suggestion.

She bent her body forward, bowing lightly with her right hand placed on her chest. "Greetings. I am Azriel Crysinthe Evans. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Greetings, I am A[........] [........] [....]im. I was [....] here [...] [...] [....] request.

Would you like to hear [.........]?

"Are you lonely?"

"I am happy that you are alive."

"Don't lie to me"

He saw her widen her eyes, most likely surprised by the firmness of his voice. He wanted her to know that he cares, that he doesn't want her hurt, and that it hurts him to know that she doesn't trust him enough that he can take care of her. Although his calm demeanor is still present, he knows that she knows that he's uncomfortable with the idea that he is clueless...which is equivalent to helpless.

He doesn't like that.

Silence followed the self-introduction. In Raizel's defense, he was...shocked, to say the least, that he became more silent than usual. He was still processing the suddenness of the onslaught visions (memories[?]) of a woman in white. She has similarities with the woman in front of him right now; with the way she talks, the way she moves, just her entirely.

He just stared at her, as if he's trying to discover something deep within her soul, and it sent shivers down her spine.

Raizel didn't reply. Azriel didn't bother speak more. The table was engulfed in an awkward silence.

Shinwoo coughed and gestured Azriel to sit as he would order for both of them. "My treat." He said. Azriel shook her head and brought out her lunch box, "I bring my own lunch. It saves more money that way."

Shinwoo and his friends (except for Rai) stared at her as if she grew a second head. Azriel blinked at the reaction. Is bringing lunched boxes that uncommon here?

"I..."

"My name..."

All eyes turned to Rai, who was staring at Azriel intently. His red orbs shining with a particular emotion Azriel cannot place.

"My name is Cadis Etrama Di Raizel.

I am honored to finally meet you."
