Chapter 9

Asuna and Keiko had just left for their mission and I was left with no one to talk to. It was still morning so I went up the dining hall to get some breakfast. I ordered some eggs and bacon and two pieces of toast. As I was eating I felt a hand on my shoulder and I immediately turned my head to see Lavi there.

"Hey there Sumi-chan. Do you mind if I sit by you?" Lavi asked.

"No, I mean there isn't like any room next to me" I said sarcastically.

Lavi just chuckled and sat down next to me with no food. I guess that he ate earlier. It was like ten in the morning though.

"Hey would you like to go shopping with me later? I have to go pick up some stuff and I'm going to look at some new clothes... boots" I said.

"Sure I would love to get away from that old panda anyway" Lavi said.

"I HEARD THAT YOU BAKA!" Bookman said as he hit Lavi in one of the hysterical ways that he always does.

"No Lavi, I will not allow you to skip out on your duties as learning how to be a bookman to go shopping" Bookman said.

"But I need help carrying my bags and there is no one else that I know who can help me" I said.

"Fine, but this is only going to happen once" Bookman said and walked away.

"Let's get going then, Baka-Lavi" I laughed.

"Whatever you say shorty" Lavi said.

Suddenly the entire dining hall got quite as they stared at me with a death aura surrounding me.

"Did you just call me shorty? S-h-o-r-t-y?" I said as if I was about to murder anything that looked at me or gave me a reason to react.

I quickly pulled out my innocence and before he got I put my scythe around his neck.

"One more time and I'll wipe your head clean off your body" I said I a deep and cold voice.

Everyone in the room backed up as far as they could away from me. They looked scared for their lives. It serves them right. No one gets away alive when calling me short.

Lavi POV

Holy shit! She is ten times scarier than Yuu. Sumi-chan is dead serious about this while Yuu would just say it to make us scared.

"Well umm Sumi-chan w-why don't w-w-we go do that s-shopping t-that you had p-planed" I said trying to get out of the situation.

"Alright!" Sumi said in a very carefree way.

'mood swings' I thought.

Sumi and I started out towards the town to go get some stuff for Sumi. I was just kinda the dog. I just got to carry the bags. I guess that I could look at stuff while I'm here to.

"Sumi-chan, by the way, how old are you?" I asked her.

"I'm 16 years old. How old are you?" Sumi asked.

"I'm 19 years old. When is your birthday? Mine is August 10" I told her.

"Mine is May 17. This is actually the first year that I'm going to spend away from my dad" Sumi said sounding a little sad.

"Don't worry Sumi-chan, we will all celebrate your birthday back at the order" I said. 'Her birthday is actually coming up. I need to think of something to get her' I thought.

Sumi's POV

We went to an ass load of stores just to find a pair of boots that I liked. After I found the perfect pair of boots we went to get my "stuff". Lavi turned white when he saw what the "stuff" that I was getting was.

"What? Girls have necessities that you don't have to worry about. It's not my fault that I was born a girl. It's not like you're the one putting it in though" I said.

"...Well that's true and I'll be thankful of that" Lavi said while putting a hand on his head.

We finished our shopping and it was around three in the afternoon. I was starting to feel a little hungry so Lavi and I went to a café. I ordered a piece of vanilla cake with green tea. Lavi got a piece of strawberry cake with green tea. The cake was really good and I was also tempted to have another but that would spoil my appetite for dinner. We got back to the order and Lavi walked me to my room with my bags. Once we got to my room he handed me my stuff and left. He probably went to talk to talk to bookman. I put the stuff I bought into the cabinet in my bathroom and changed into clothes that would go with my boots. I put on a sheer white shirt and dark jeans. Then I put on my boots and did my hair. I had my hair half up, the upper part in a pony tail and the lower part down. I left my room and went to see if maybe Komui would let me go on a mission to kill some time. As I was walking down to his office, I saw Lavi talking with bookman in a hall with no one in it.

"Hello Lavi, Bookman" I said.

"Oi! Sumi-chan! Come over here!" Lavi shouted.

"Panda you should really meet her. She is really nice and did you hear the prophecy Hevlaska gave her?"

"Don't call me a panda you Baka and no I haven't heard it yet" Bookman said.

I sweat dropped listening to them fighting. I just walked over to them ignoring their conversation.

"So tell me, what was the prophecy that Hevlaska gave you?" Bookman asked me.

"She told me that my role was to take freedom away from people who don't deserve it" I said.

"That is very interesting. That means that you will certainly make a strong exorcist. Do you know what the prophecy for the other girls you were traveling with is?" Bookman asked.

"Yes, I do. Asuna Yoshino's prophecy was to keep peace while trying to protect someone important. Keiko's prophecy was that she will play a big role in helping the destroyer of time. Also all of our synchronization rates are 99 percent" I said.

"Well I better get going now. I have some stuff to do" Bookman said.

"Ok..." I said a little confused at his behavior.

"Do you want to get some dinner with me? I'm pretty hungry" Lavi asked.

We both made our way up to the dining hall and Lavi ordered Yakiniku. I ordered fried chicken.

"Hey Lenalee does Komui have any missions for me?" I asked.

"I think he might be sending you on a mission with Lavi when Asuna and Keiko come back from theirs" Lenalee said.

"Hey Lavi, when you are done eating you want to spar with me?" I asked.

"Sure thing, as long as I don't get my head cut off I'm all for it" Lavi said.

We made our way to the training room and we took our stances.

"INNOCENCE ACTIVATE!" We yelled.

A scythe appeared in my hands and Lavi's hammer grew. We charged at each other for about ten minutes until I ran up the wall into a back flip and landed on his back as he fell to the ground.

"Looks like I win this round. We should spar again sometime, Lavi" I said.
