Shun wasn't ready.
But he also knew he probably never would be.
So he cleaned his room, sat at his table to hide his stomach, and put out a coffee jelly for when Saiki got there.
He felt sick just thinking about it.
He told himself he shouldn't be scared, after all, this was his boyfriend.
That ended up making him feel worse. He put on another jacket self-consciously.
Shun had never been more anxious when the doorbell rang. Not even when he was home alone as a kid and the creepy mailman made him sign for a package.
He sucked in his stomach (which was getting increasingly more difficult) and went to answer the door. His family went on an outing to "give them space.", so it was only Saiki and him.
He tried his best not to look sick.
"Heyyy Saiki! Uh... come in?"
Saiki did as told, and Kaidou could feel the other boy's eyes scanning his own. To break the awkward silence, Shun spoke up.
"That's a nice ring you have. I notice you wear it a lot, did someone give it to you?"
"No."
Well, that did nothing to ease his nerves.
"Well uh... sit down. I got you a coffee jelly."
"What did you want to tell me Shun?"
Kaidou sat across the table from Saiki, nervous sweating.
"Well... uh... this is kinda awkward," he offered a dry laugh. "But... well how do I say this? Um..."
Without warning, Kaidou's hands flew to his stomach. He paled and his eyes widened. Without thinking, he squeaked out:
"The baby kicked."
Saiki froze mid-bite.
They kinda just stared at each other, tears starting to well up in Shun's eyes.
"...The what?" Kusuo asked, still not moving.
Kaidou was faintly aware that his face was burning.
"The... child. The kid. Spawn?" He felt a tad bit light-headed, but he ignored it as Saiki took off the ring and carefully placed it in his pocket.
"Who..."
It abruptly occurred to Shun. Kusou thought that Kaidou had gotten some poor girl pregnant.
"WAITWAITWAITNONONONONO THAT'S NOT IT"
Saiki's eyebrows shot up.
"I... Saiki... frick."

Saiki couldn't tell what was happening. Shun's brain was moving too fast for him to comprehend it all. In one smooth motion, he returned his ring to his finger and offered Kaidou his full attention.
"The thing is... I..." Shun sighed. "It would probably be easier to show you.
Kusuo watched as the other boy removed various layers before pulling up the bottom of his t-shirt.
He stood up abruptly, covering his mouth and widening his eyes.
He remembered the weird kiss at the movie theatre.
The kiss... the purple tinge on Shun's lips... she should have known he did something.
This was his fault.
