"I don't care what your past was, what I care about is your present and your future."
Aaron is scared. He can feel the oppressive weight of his darker self slowly clawing at his self-control, and it gets slightly stronger everyday, like a giant set of fangs slowly trying to crush him. Aaron can also feel it beginning to affect his memories, some days they'll be darker and more obscured as time continues to force him further into this mess of a life, and some days he feels like he has lost contact with his body. And yet, he continues to play at being normal, at least, as normal as he can pretend he is. He bleeds red, he feels pain, and he's mortal. Sometimes he feels as if he only received the worst parts of humanity. The one thing that may be the most defining characteristic of his existence hurts more to admit than anything else ever has, even the regretful glances his mother thinks he hasn't noticed.
"I'm not human."
Disclaimer: This is Samantha's first attempt at romance, more or less, as she normally writes horror stuff. This was supposed to be kind of happy and light hearted. Then it got REALLY dark when it was filtered through Samantha's mind, and by far, the writing through the romance parts will suck compared to the scenes with violence and horror themes. (*Samantha cringes at the romantic cliches and cheesiness*) Edited by Tessa, who is substantially more human than Samantha.
Also, this is now finished. I'll keep it as ongoing seeing as I have yet to do complete rewrites, but I hope to get around to writing the sequel and prequel over the summer.
