It's a small poem based on never ending rapes in India. With bit of satire it focuses on the passive onlookers and how often the family of the victims suffer while the culprits are left to do such deeds again.

"They sold her like she was nothing - first by the one she loved, then by the world that bought her body and silenced her soul. This isn't about escape or healing. This is about surviving when every part of you already died"

Caught in a cycle of emotional servitude, Emilia lives as a ghost in her own life, absorbing the traumas of those around her until she forgets what it means to be a child. Yet, this story of profound emotional exhaustion is actually the prologue to her liberation. The very capacity for empathy that once drained her becomes the foundation for her awakening. As the narrative progresses, her encounter with someone who finally treats her with genuine care and sees her as an individual-rather than a burden-bearer-serves as the catalyst for her transformation. From the broken vessel of her past, she emerges into a love that does not demand her depletion, but instead offers the safety to finally be herself.

This is my story, my secrets, the things that moulded the woman I now am, the mother I've become and the syndical, pedantic, untrusting view I have on the world and its inhabitants. Surviving abuse, religious conditioning, sibling death, teen parenthood, an abusive marriage, supernatural encounters and realising my own strength, seeing people for who they are and following my gut. My life or the parts that are significant enough to type, this is the stripped to the core truth with no concern of offending or upsetting. This is my world.

School summer vacations in Mumbai are as intensely memorable and often more instructional than the school year itself. This is the time when, devoid of a regimen and a timetable, children are left to their own devices to defend against the mortal enemy of any adolescent. Boredom. 12-year-old Simi and 15-year-old Shashi are siblings going to school in a teeming suburb of Mumbai back in its relatively lesser teeming times of 1995. The apartment building in which they live gets a new occupant, simply known as Dada, an affable 60-year-old man, who moves in on the first day of their school vacation. Both Simi and Shashi are charmed by their endearing new neighbor whom they befriend, but soon their peaceful holidays are upturned and they discover an entirely new adult world filled with greed, betrayal, low cunning, and most of all true courage in the midst of all this.

Skylar realizes the precipice she stands on as she begins her final year of high school and finds out she's pregnant. With no support from the people that she relies on, Skylar wonders what she wants. Is she ready to become a parent, or on the other hand, can she bear the weight of extinguishing a life that hasn't yet begun? The question remains: can she handle the consequences of her shattered innocence; or will they tear her apart at the seams? Note from the Author: This story is a work in progress. I'm currently on hiatus because I've been signed to a publisher (Rambunctious Rambling Publishing) for a fantasy book called Shadows & Light. I have an overflowing plate, but I'll update when and if I can. I may make minor changes to chapters as the story progresses. I am hoping to hear lots feedback from my readers. Think I misspelled something? Is there a better word or phrase I could've used in a certain spot? Wondering about a different character's point of view? Something seem off? Let me know! Thank you so much for reading! and thanks for the cover @Noni1717 :D

From a small town of 2,500 where everyone knew her name-and thought they knew her destiny-Sarah Evans was the golden girl, the "homeroom angel" destined for more. Fueled by hollow prophecies of modeling fame, she trades her quiet Tennessee life for the glittering promise of Hollywood, only to discover that dreams have a dark, dangerous price. Swallowed by the city's predatory underbelly, Sarah's journey spirals from a desperate magazine shoot to the neon haze of a strip club, from whispered lies to a numbing addiction. While she spins a glamorous fairy tale for the hometown that once adored her, her reality becomes a survival story-one of exploitation, shattered ribs, and a loneliness so deep it threatens to erase her completely. But when the lies unravel and the angel falls, salvation comes from the most unexpected place: the steadfast love of the boy she left behind. Centerfold Angel is a raw, unflinching story of lost innocence, the brutal cost of "making it," and the painful, powerful journey home-not as the girl who left, but as the woman who survived.
