An unspeakable act of random violence changes the lives of the agents at the Office of Special Projects forever. One agent will face more than just the physical pain of recovery, but the heart-wrenching pain of loss and the daunting task of letting go and moving on.

The team at OSP are called upon to investigate the death of a Naval Intelligence Officer brutally murdered by her estranged husband who has ties to a newly emerging homegrown terrorist organization. When assigned protective custody of the couple's badly beaten and abused nine year-old daughter, Deeks' comes face to face with his own memories of abuse and torment at the hands of his drunken and twisted father. While the team works to locate and neutralize the threat, Deeks' fights to protect the scared little girl in his custody while dealing with the darkness rising up to the surface seeking to consume him completely and destroy everything he holds dear.

A weekend camping trip in the mountains two hours north of Ojai, California sounded like a fabulous idea. Days filled with fun and adventure with nights spent next to a roaring campfire telling ghost stories turn into something quite unexpected for the participants. Throw in a group of escaped prisoners to make things interesting and you have a glorious weekend off for the team attached to the Office of Special Projects.

This is the next in a line of stories that further develop the NCIS:LA team and move it forward toward a larger incident that has long-lasting implications for the team and the Nation as a whole. I thought I'd take a series of cases that test the team's cohesiveness and unity to the brink and in some cases, over the precipice. I wanted to explore their individual and collective relationships with one another and see what flushes out at the end. Will the daunting string of cases pull them apart, or drive them together. And speaking of relationships, what of Deeks and Kensi and their romantic involvement? Can they keep it together, or will they have to move on? Likewise, Kerigan and Clay...where do they go from here? How will Hetty keep her family whole when Murphy is bent on tearing them apart?

A gang of bumbling crooks break into a secured storage locker and get away with something quite unexpected. Kensi and Kerigan discover what the petty thieves absconded with has a darker purpose and find that they are the ones in mortal danger.
