Myalgicencephalomyelitis Stories

My 6th poetry book starts September 10, 2018. After Walking Forward to the Beginning, it's now time to head towards the future and all of my goals and dreams; a warrior marching down her path as depicted on the cover. This book will also be edgier then my previous ones as I share my thoughts on politics and other matters. This poem explains how there is an underlying belief that those saying they have ME and just lazy and choosing to be this way. Believe me, this couldn't be further from the truth.

17 million people around the world suffer from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or ME and it is incurable and untreatable. The disease is called ME but Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS is the name the CDC gave it. Doctors for the most part think that it is all in our heads; well it's not. ME is a neuro-immune disease that affects every aspect of your life. Diagnosed originally in September of 2012, this author was bedridden from October 2013 through August 1, 2015. this author couldn't go past her own back yard and that's on an extremely good day, her life came to a stand still and she couldn't move forward. In June of 2013, she graduated with her MBA and was supposed to start her Ph.D in early 2014 but that was not to be. In this batch of poems, this author hopes to show others that they aren't alone in this. She hopes that people will come together to raise awareness for this miserable illness. Her personal story of her life with ME can be found in the first chapter of this book in video form. The cover is of the Survivor Tree at the 9/11 memorial that this author took in 2011. Starting August 2nd, 2016 until September 3, 2018......these poems will be describing the onward journey in remission as well as how I continue walking forward to the beginning.....after all, only from the past can you grow in strength to face the future. When suffering from a Chronic Illness such as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), you soon find out who your real friends are.

This book starts where Survivor left off only from a much more changed stand point and learning and living one day at a time. That doesn't, however, mean that I am cured of ME or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis; which I was diagnosed with in September of 2012 being bedridden for 2 years (2013-2015). This collection of poems will be written as I maneuver the road to recovery with the help of holistic medicine. I hope to raise further awareness of the illness as well as how peace, faith, spirituality, positivity, and forgiveness lead to a less stressful existence. I also do not let this illness define me so be prepared for some silly and out of the ballpark poetry as well as when days get harder because though the rebirth itself was through divine intervention, it wasn't a cure-all. I will end in this particular book on August 1st, 2016. It'll be a year since the Rebirth. This 7th poetry book will be a lot darker than some previous ones as it'll have more of my ongoing problems with my health, life, fears, and burdens for the past 4 plus years.
