grief /ɡriːf/ noun 1.intense sorrow, especially caused by someone's death. A body lay at the bottom of the dark depths of the lake. Another lay ontop of the ice, seperating the both of them, tears cascading down his stinging cheeks. Breathing felt heavy, almost like a chore.
