When a mad vires infects the already dwindling human race, and the last rescue ship to a space colony leaves, can the remaining humans manage to some how find humanity on a planet with next to zero humans? In thousands of years, when our technology has gone down the drain due to lack of resources, entire continents are toxic to step foot on, and it's a human eat human world, is it possible to rebuild community on Earth or should the remaining unlucky survivors rush to find a seemingly nonexistent way to escape the chaser vires?

Cora Sophia Brookes is trying to "make it" in New York's Harlem in the 1920s. Although surrounded by artists, poets, and jazz musicians, her life is a far cry from the glitz and glamour of the Cotton Club. A struggling artist, she does not have time for love. Nor does she believe in magic. Even as a child, Cora knew that it was just a fairy tale. Why then, does she have moments where she feels as if someone is missing? Why does she have brief periods where she would swear magical creatures such as pixies exist, and that she has seen them? Why does she feel as if she has forgotten something very, very important?
