Sa pagitan ng mga dumadaang turista, nagvi-video na bata, at mga usap-usapang urban legend, unti-unting mabubuo ang isang lihim na hindi dapat nalalaman ng mundo: Ang mga "nakakatakot" na nilalang sa balete tree ay hindi pala mga halimaw. Sila ay mga nilalang din na naghahanap ng pahinga, pagkakakilanlan, at katahimikan sa mundong matagal nang ginawang alamat ang kanilang pagod.
