It is 1942 and America has barely begun its fight in World War 2. Bobby Campbell, an ex-fighter pilot, is imprisoned and awaiting trial for leaking sensitive war secrets. But he is given one last chance to redeem himself: escape from prison, defect to the Soviet Union, and convince his ex-fiance, currently fighting in Russia, to spy for the United States. Meanwhile, Karen Hamilton, the woman who broke Bobby's heart so she could fight beside her Russian lover, experiences the tragedy and triumph of war during one of history's bloodiest battles: Stalingrad.

The Soviet Union was in a desperate situation during the battle of Stalingrad. The German army had pushed deep into the city, and it seemed like all hope was lost. The Soviet forces were outmatched and outgunned, and the Germans were closing in. But there was a glimmer of hope. A scientist, known only as Dr. Ivanov, had been working on a new technology based on laser weapons and tanks. It was a risky and expensive endeavor, but he was convinced that it was the key to turning the tide of the war...

Russian blood is awash in the city of Stalingrad but time will be re-written when a new terror is unleashed upon the world, a weapon that will annihilate the Nazi power dead in its tracks.

It is March 1943. The guns have fallen silent over the Volga, and the German Sixth Army has surrendered. But as the spring thaw melts the ice, it reveals more than just the wreckage of war. Hans Weber, a German deserter hiding in the ruins under a stolen identity, knows the truth. He saw what happened in the Grain Elevator. He knows that the "sickness" buried in the mud isn't dead-it was only sleeping. Now, as the city tries to rebuild, the dead are waking up. And they are hungry.
