The story takes place right after the events of "Words of Radiance" by the wonderful Brandon Sanderson. MASSIVE SPOILERS for the series! There are myths, legends, and stories of the "Collector of Oddities" across all of Roshar. People say he's like a guardian who gives money to those in need from a magical wagon that drives itself. These are all just stories, however, he's never actually been seen... Zez was just the scribe of a respected Stormwarden in Shulin, Alethkar, although the world is being shaken up by assassins, talk of the "Everstorm", and so much more chaos. Kaladin, former Highmarshal of the Windrunners, enters a timeless state very similar to what he has experienced at the center of a Highstorm, right as he swears the 4th Ideal. Spensa, one of the only human Cytonics and part Delver, enters the Nowhere to Hyperjump, but experiences a blinding white light, not the void she was expecting. Only to find themselves together, three powerful warriors that never should have met.

In the vast Cosmere, there are a few souls who have gained the ability to travel between worlds through perpendicularities. But how does one join these wanderers? Arumi has lived her entire life in the roughs outside of Elendel basin, the land blessed by Harmony himself.
