A prince charming, a damsel in distress, talking animals for best friends and living happily ever after...none of that in this story. This is not a fairy tale. Although it was a story that happened to me once upon a time. Before Jim came into my life "again" I never felt incomplete and didn’t have an urge of looking for a "mate". I was 22 but I was not panicking. I have a degree, stable job, loving family and friends. I’m happy and contented with life. Or so I thought.

This is a true love story. It isn't about me, but it is about a very close friend of mine. Please be aware that it is a sad love story. It was very hard to sum up her first love and their story in one chapter with only 1,500 words, but I tried my best. The Best of Me Movie Contest entry. First Love stories may be a cliche, but cliches are overused for a reason. Even if the stories are all similar, it's about the sophomoric feelings earnestly put into each first love, and that's why no matter how ordinary the story, each one matters.
