whatever happens, happens. that's all i'm saying for now. you can't be serious right now! of course i can be serious right now! after how many tinder horror stories, i finally get a chance with my dream guy and everyone is telling me i'm an idiot? you are an idiot! you know what kind of girls sean is into? you are meek and mild and five years younger than him, you are nothing like the women i've seen him with time and time again! what is that supposed to mean? you are you, you're breathtaking, stunning, and you're so sweet, but you're quiet and introverted, you're also freshly twenty, and he is twenty five. you're going to end up hurt and i don't know how you can't see that, but the next time your heart gets broken i am not going to be the one who picks up the pieces for you once again. not to mention, i've known the guy forever now, i have seen how he treats women; not disrespectfully, but poorly nevertheless. he is going to play with your feelings, that's all i'm saying. wow sam, you're really classy huh... that's how you talk to a lifelong friend. nice to know that you really don't give a shit about anyone but yourself. sorry i can't reciprocate the feelings you have for me, i love you as a friend, but that is it. if that isn't enough for you then you don't deserve my friendship at all, if my happiness doesn't mean anything to you, then you can see yourself out. that's not what i'm saying i- that is exactly what you are saying!

Jack Hughes had everything. Speed. Skill. Stardom. The world had been watching since he was sixteen, and he'd lived up to every expectation-until the hit that changed everything. One brutal shift ends it all. Jack wakes up in a hospital bed with a shattered shoulder, a spinal injury, and a doctor telling him he might never play again. As the headlines mourn the loss of a superstar, Jack starts mourning himself-who he was, who he thought he'd be, and the life that was supposed to go on forever. And then there's her. The woman who's stayed beside him through every high and low, who believed in him before he was anything. But Jack can't shake the guilt, the creeping thought that maybe she deserves someone whole. Someone better. Someone not broken. Now, stuck in a body that feels like a betrayal, and a mind spiraling into doubt, Jack has to decide: Is he still Jack Hughes without hockey? And can he let someone love him if he doesn't love himself?

He plays for the win. She was never part of the game plan. When she flies to Calgary for a low-key winter break, the last thing she expects is to fall for one of her brother's loud, reckless teammates. But from the moment Matthew Tkachuk flashes that signature grin across the Gaudreau living room, she knows she's in trouble. He's off-limits. Her brother's teammate. A walking headline with a smirk that could melt the Alberta snow. But fate doesn't care about boundaries. Not when they keep running into each other - in kitchens at midnight, in crowded arenas, in stolen moments where neither of them says what they're really thinking. As her quiet visit turns into something deeper, their chemistry becomes impossible to ignore. From Calgary to Florida, through trades, distance, and long nights apart, one thing remains constant: it's always him. Years later, when the final buzzer sounds and the Cup is won, he doesn't go looking for the trophy. He comes running to her. A story about forbidden beginnings, unforgettable connections, and the kind of love that knows exactly where home is.
