In a world where everyone is given a superpower on their 10th birthday at random, what happens to those whose powers are subpar? They are sent off to a boarding school run by Madame Lorestra, The School for the Naturally Ungifted and Untalented (SNUU). There, they can be safe and comfortable while having the literal worst imaginable powers. This is a story of a youth named Finn Lockwynn who travels from his hometown of Aerwyna to Lindonium to study at the Academy of Magic & Science, along with his Contracted Spirit Gaheris, in order to get into the Ranks of Restrain, and to uncover the truth of a past never forgotten.

June McIntyre and Jo Peters: two best friends among the group of teenagers recognized under the label of "Ungifted" according to the United States government. After mass destruction, killings, natural disasters, and chaos, young adults have been classified into two divisions, gifted and ungifted. The ungifted are known as the impurities in a broken society that is trying to find solutions to the mass chaos occurring under its government's rule. When June and Jo realize the truth about the world around them and themselves, they embark on a journey unlike anyone's of the past. With a few obstacles, conflicts, and a little bit of romance in their way, their journey will be nothing close to easy. Will the two and their group of friends accomplish the impossible and save their country, or will they fail and leave the world to fall to shambles?

In the future, the aftermath of a strange disease has left human genetics altered. There are people who all share a birthmark and are gifted with supernatural abilities. As more of these gifted individuals show up, the more that the non-gifted humans fear them. The gifted called themselves the Gifted Outcasts, while they are called Tainted Bloods by the non-gifted. The non-gifted were referred to as the Ungifted. When a teenage boy discovers that he is one of the Outcasts, he is taken from his family, and forced to live with the others in a compound, meant to keep them separate from the Ungifted. When it seems as if a war between the two societies is near, it's up to Teddy Thompson and his friends to bring peace between the two groups.

Gifts and soulmates were common currency in Donumdell. From a very young age, that was all its citizens were instilled with. And each and every one of them knew that at some point in their lives, especially between the ages of twelve and twenty-five, they were bound to receive both marks on their wrist. One, in a black tone, denoted the type of gift they had been given at birth. And the second one, in a white tone, dictated that whoever shared that same mark was bound to be their soulmate and with whom they would spend the rest of their lives. But what happens when someone does not receive any kind of mark? How does a society ruled and ranked by those marks react when faced with the presence of someone like that?
