There is a place somewhere out there that cannot be reached by normal means. Nobody knows that it exists, and not even the few that do know for sure what it is, but it's certain that it's not a good place. It's a place where all the nightmares are collected into one. Each nightmare is given a physical form based on what it was, from terrains spread across several miles to fortresses touching the sky. But in the end, the physical form is always some kind of location. And with each new nightmare dreamt by a child or adult alike, that place grows, further expanding its land-mass for anyone unfortunate enough to find its way to it. That place is called the nightmare cluster.
The story tells of a man named Nate Freed. Nate found himself suddenly in the nightmare cluster. How did he get there? He doesn't know. What is he supposed to there? He doesn't know. The only thing he knows is that he has a soft feminine voice sitting in his head, constantly repeating the same line over and over: "Find it". But what is 'it'? Not even Nate knows, and when the voice was asked about it, she simply replied: "you'll know it when you see it". Vague as it may be, Nate must find whatever he is looking for and leave the horror which is the nightmare cluster.
But unfortunately for Nate, before he could finish his search in one area, he somehow meets an unfortunate end, dying miserably, only to reappear in a different location in the cluster, whole once more and completely unharmed. There is no proper explanation to how Nate manages to defy death over and over as he searches for 'it', but death means nothing to him, as the only thing that he cares about the find that thing and end the voice once and for all.
Nate relentlessly searches for that thing among the many highlights of each location in the nightmare cluster as he dies over and over, reappearing in another area and continuing his search, while completely disregarding what happened seconds before.
