You've been lost in the Wastes for days until a familiar mechanical castle stops right where you are. Long story short, you're working as a cleaner alongside the old woman Sophie, endlessly sweeping the wizard Howl's castle. One day, he comes running down with multi coloured hair, obviously distressed over the 'hideous' hair colour; what will you do?

Howl's Moving Castle AU in which Howl goes to a hat shop in hopes that its resident Hatter will break his curse. TW: NA. Words: 5550. Updates on Sundays irregularly. The Witch of the Waste has caught up to Howl, forcing him to come to the realization that the best way to escape her is breaking his curse. He takes up residence in Sophie's hat shop where he spends his days hiding from the Witch, dropping hints on curse-breaking, and learning the ails of retail.

On a lonely day in the hat shop, Sophie Hatter sits down and writes a book in which magic doesn't exist. In which the Witch of the Waste doesn't frighten people. In which Howl is just a normal person like everyone else. Meanwhile, Howl is sitting in his castle, writing a book in which he never became a wizard. In which he was a normal, blonde, beautiful boy. What if a little magic isn't so bad, though? Sophie begins to find chapters that she didn't write in her book, and Howl's chapters keep disappearing. Maybe the magic bringing these two together isn't so bad after all.
