The telephone rings and young private investigator Ailsa Craig talks to Yarden Hoffshire, a high society lawyer interested in hiring her. The murders of two female students are unsolved and another has gone missing. Hoffshire's clients, a prominent humanitarian couple, want Ailsa to assist James Blackwood, an investigator renowned for finding missing persons. Eager to step away from an endless routine of deadbeat dad cases and photographing cheating spouses, Ailsa signs on. However, her first task isn't easy. She must visit Blackwood on an isolated sheep farm in Canada and convince him out of retirement. The case evolves like no other and turns into a high-energy, race against time, search for a frightening serial killer that threatens more lives and the relationship of the investigators.
