A QUICK NOTE: This is definitely not the best representation of my writing, and not my best work. It's old as hell, and I haven't updated in ages because I've been focusing on bigger, better projects! However, if you want to keep reading, feel free to. ┌ ┐ My name is Mortal. I have just turned thirteen years old. And soon, I will know when I will die. ═ In a world where overpopulation wreaked the earth raw and the sky is no longer blue, life had turned from a precious given gift into a disposable plastic chip. Perhaps not a chip, but a date on an arm. Whence a child reaches their coming of age of thirteen years, a date is imprinted onto their wrists, forming their futures as the date of their death. Mortal has just turned thirteen. As he receives his death sentence, Mortal is horrified to realize how close it truly is; how close he is to be executed. But after Mortal was supposably killed for the betterment of his country, he wakes up. Locked away in a mysterious facility with two hundred and forty other children around his age, Mortal suddenly finds himself surrounded by beings just like him - odd, perplexing, and broken. Bewildered, all believe that they have been shipped to the inexplicable facility to be killed, just as they were supposed to be. But when Mortal and those around him are told that everything they ever knew was a lie, Mortal is determined to discover what is real and what is not, especially after he discovers that the supposed facility they resided in wasn't a facility at all. Finding himself the leader of a growing rebellion and in the epicenter of a dangerous plot by the mysterious Council, Mortal must fight for the olden Earth and all of those upon the new. But Mortal must tread carefully, for nothing is as it seems. └ ┘ A Dystopian Sci-Fi Novel DISCLAIMER: Dark themes are present. Mature language is used. Proceed with caution. ©mewmetoo | 2018
