The moon shines bright through the branches in the cold evening as my eyes creak open slowly. Laying in the middle of the woods, when I'm fully awake, I look around. "What the hell--why am I--HOW did I..."
Snap.
I shoot up from my place on the ground and my head whips in the direction of the sound. I don't see anything, and the air is silent.
The wind picks up and leaves rustle quietly as I'm still frozen in fear.
Another snap a little to my left and my heart stops along with my breathing. Out of the corner of my eyes, I see a pair of deep red eyes hidden in the shadows.
Startled, I blink, terrified.
And then they were gone.
