Synopsis:
Twelve-year-old Peter Tulliver's life is over. His parents are divorcing, his mother moved him into a crummy apartment in the city, and he hasn't seen or spoken to his father in months.

Everything changes when he meets Quip, the monster trapped in his bedroom closet. Peter cons Quip into helping him run away and soon he's on the adventure of a lifetime.

Except, it's nothing like he expected. Humans have been outlawed for centuries and around every corner lies danger. Along the way, Quip and Peter are imprisoned by the imperialistic president Madam Rhoda, captured by pirates to be sold into slavery, and barely escape being eaten by a giant.
