Summer had always been my favorite season. I love the warmth, spending time outside, and I love the feeling of Kiara's head on my shoulder. She would be wearing some beautiful gown, while I would be in a simple dress. I wasn't born into royalty like Kiara was, she was the oldest of her siblings so she was the one who would get the crown the day her parents passed. Thankfully, today was not that day. Today we decide to walk through the beautiful gardens around the palace. What a strange sight I must have been, The Princess and her maid, walking through the Palace Gardens on a warm summer day. No one ever looked twice though, no matter how strange they found it. The Princess was always my job. I needed to take care of her day and night, and wait to her every need. She made it easy though. She knew how much work I had to do, so she tried to make it as simple as possible for me. She would clear her own dishes, and pick up after herself, unlike her brother. Kalen was messy. He would get food all over the table, leave his dirty shoes all over The Palace, and he was loud. Granted he was a fourteen year old boy, but he spent so much time running around with his friends, seemingly making as much noise as possible. I felt sorry for my sister who was in charge of him. He was a handful. Kiara hated when Kalen was loud. She always said it gave her a headache. It gave me one too. Usually when that happened, Kiara would yell at him until he would go back to his room and be more quiet, then her and I would go into her room and laugh about it. Kiara and I spent every hour together. When we were both fourteen, I was assigned as her personal maid. Ever since then, we never left each other's sides. Except for once, when I had to leave for a few years. Those were the worst years of my life.
