Y/n Gibsons is failing potions. Severus Snape is convinced she just doesn't try, as he sees her potential. But he soon learns never to judge a book by its cover, as he learns about her past and her difficult home life. And soon he finds himself caring for her. But he's suffered so many losses and his difficult childhood haunts him, so deep down the two aren't too different...
