All through Amelia's twenty three years she felt like was being controlled. Especially after her parents death. She only wanted to live a normal life. Landing a job as a professional stylist with Roux Monroe definitely put her on the right path.
On and off occurrences after her parents death made her a loner. She was afraid to open up too much. Amelia stayed away from those who wanted to befriend her as much as possible, staying away from the opposite sex was just as easy.
That was until she met Detective Jake Mathis at the Charity event. She couldn't remember the last time she felt a fire inside quite like this.

I watched as he rubbed the back of his neck and turned around, walking away but stopping after a few steps and he turned around to face me, with a smirk on his lips, "With a face like yours, I wish I was blind." And that's when everyone around us burst into laughter. I thought this man was going to hug me and make me feel safe, but instead, he decided to push me to the ground and make everyone laugh.
