This is a story about Rengoku surviving the attack from Akaza, and Akaza struggles to find him afterwards. He is ordered to kill him off since he is weak at that time, but a well off hashira.
On his last day to find him Akaza discovers Kyojuro, but Rengoku doesn't wish to fight. Akaza feels the need to keep him around in order to feel good himself about finding the man. The two eventually become friends and decide to take their friendship further.
