Roxana Evangelista Reyes was born in the heat and sunlit country, the Philippines, to a standard lower middle-class Filipino family. Her life so far until the tender age of 4, was full of bliss and happiness living in Manila and sometimes in Evangelista's heritage home, in Ilocos Norte with her cousins and grandparents. However, her life takes a drastic change as one by one, she notices her cousins and family leaving the Philippines to live in other countries. At long last, her parents also take Roxana and her brother to immigrate to the strange, cold and cloudy country, the UK. Roxana is forced to adapt and grow in this strange country all the while she tolerates the hostility within her family until she can no longer stay. Slowly but surely, she realises her heart belongs in the Philippines, but to return, she needs to break away from the chains of her family. Roxana's desperation to be set free sets her on a course of finding refuge under her wealthy Grandaunt and she realises that there is more to her desires. Her ambition - for freedom, power, and love - takes her all the way back to the Philippines to a particular foster family who also desires the same. Her new foster family, the De La Cruz, is a rising Filipino family famous for their domination among industries, businesses and politics, and they are just as ambitious as Roxana. But what happens when Roxana catches herself torn between the Cruz men? Her forbidden love for her foster father becomes dangerous, but profound admiration for a younger, dashing and mischievous man slowly morphs into something else, maybe even more dangerous for herself and the De La Cruz family. The balance within the family becomes unstable, but will Roxana's presence bring it back to balance or will her ambition and love destroy the family?
