The object of a god's obsession never makes it out unscathed, if even alive -- Percy Jackson knows this. So when he wakes up and realizes he has spent the last year forcibly under the divine influence of Apollo, acting as a lover and High Priest of his (quite literal) cult, it doesn't take long for him to process that he must escape immediately. It's too bad Apollo will furious when he realizes that his plaything is sentient.
