Evergreen (Terminal trilogy 2.5)

It's a Terminal side novel! WHAT?!? How niche! It's probably best read as book 2.5, but it can stand alone.

Evergreen follows enigmatic Michael Lexington, mentally unstable archangel extraordinaire. Ten years into the peace, he's trying to cling onto his past as the ruler of heaven, but finding everyone has left him behind. On his 220th birthday, however, he receives a strange visitor- an old friend, in fact.

An old friend who is very much dead, and who he played a part in killing. So his past is literally coming back for him. His friend doesn't seem to know much either, only Michael's name. Together they're going to figure this out!!

What is going on? Why is his friend here? Is this even his friend or something worse?
