Arc 8: The Necromancer's Apprentice

When a family outing turns into a deadly situation, Matthew, Umbra, and Victor encounter a powerful new necromancer named Morena. Even stranger, she seems to have ties to Matthew's past!

Victor's break from the exciting abruptly ends when Morena offers him an apprenticeship and he's thrown violently out of his comfort zone. As Victor struggles to control his anxiety, it seems that studying magic isn't the only problem he has to deal with- Morena has some secrets of her own (as per usual with the Mortis family).

Meanwhile, Pilate starts an apprenticeship of his own with the mysterious Überdragon Life. Pilate is enjoying the newfound attention and sense of purpose, but Life has other plans for him.
