this is my very hot take that might piss some people off! 
          
          you shouldn’t be using religion as an excuse to be homophobic. 
          
          firstly, i’ve met a nonbinary christian, a gay muslim, a pansexual christian. clearly religion isn’t the problem but instead personal prejudice is. if your belief system is built on love then it shouldn’t be used to justify hate. 
          
          like in the bible (mark 12:31) jesus says to “love your neighbour as yourself”. he doesn’t say love your neighbour except if they’re gay, but people pick and choose which parts to follow and will ignore this if it fits their ideology. 
          
          if you really are faithful to your religion then you shouldn’t be using it as a shield to hide behind and justify spreading hate. 
          you don’t have to personally choose to be part of the lgbtq+ community, just as we respect people who aren’t you should respect us. 
          
          (and before you spread hate, i study christianity and islam at a gcse level)

@-herstxr- the saddest part is that this shouldn't be a hot take bc it's basic common sense. i myself am a muslim but does that mean i'll boycott or downright verbally abuse someone for being homosexual? no bc that's fucking stupid and all religions preach about tolerance; homophobia is basically people projecting their own insecurities and religious mania onto others. i'm glad you spoke up about it; louder for the people in the back!!
